first downgrade from 1.34 to DIR655A4_FW131RUB10.bin  then upgrade to 1.42B02 system running faster, and yes 3g is integrated

Upgraded from 1.21EU to 1.34B02Beta from ftp.dlink.ru

- Wake On LAN from internet not working anymore. It works when I add it in Virtual Server (predefined Wake On LAN option with IP 192.168.0.255), but after some time it doesn't work anymore. This was not the case with 1.21EU. I also configured the same static DHCP leases as with 1.21EU.

- IPTV is working now, but stutters over Wireless connection (I also see a high error rate in DIR-655 wireless log). If I disable the options 'WMM Enable' and 'Short Gi' under Advanced Wireless I don't have stuttering anymore. But the cons are that the wireless speeds are slower (3-4 mb/s instead of 7-10 mb/s). I use the latest driver (9.0.0.173) for my Atheros AR928X WLAN adapter.

believe me Atheros network cards are ****py, no good support. Go for an intel or broadcom version.

Title: Re: Worldwide firmware 1.34B02Beta is out

Well, I had 2 MSI EX620 notebooks. 1 with Intel WiFi Link 5100 and 1 with Atheros AR928x. When compared the wireless speed on my DIR-655 A3 the Atheros was much faster then Intel. The reason for this was that those Intel adapters didn't support Channel Bonding at 40mhz. So with the Intel adapter the Wireless link was only running at 150Mbit and with the Atheros adapter it was running at 300Mbit.

Intel didn't had any option to set 40Mhz width in their networkadapter. Even not with their newest drivers. I really felt cheated by Intel that they didn't support such an IMPORTANT feature!

I decided to send back the MSI EX620 with Intel adapter and keep the one with Atheros adapter. And I'm really glad I did! The Atheros is fast and rock stable with the DIR-655!

Your point about the support: Yes new versions of their drivers are hard to find. They don't put them on their website. Mostly you need to get them from OEM sites like Acer, HP or Dell. But it's worth it because of the 40Mhz Channel Bonding support!

Yes Intel support 40 mhz channel you need to set it to automatic.

Latest Atheros drivers can be found here. I use the 9.1.100 myself on my Thinkpad here in Windows 7. Works perfectly.

Anyone else have this issue? - Trying to upload with A3 hardware but get this message:

The uploaded firmware file may not be correct. You may have uploaded a file that is not intended for this device, or the uploaded file may be corrupted.

If the uploaded file is correct, it is possible that the device may be too busy to properly receive it right now. In this case, please try the upload again. It is also possible that you are logged in as a 'user' instead of an 'admin' - only administrators can upload new firmware.

The Gateway will not be reprogrammed.

Yes Intel support 40 mhz channel you need to set it to automatic.

I did, but still no channel bonding. Link speed was still 150Mbit. I changed pretty much every option in the Intel NIC, but never managed to get over 150Mbit. Maybe the Intel 5300 uses Channel bonding when set to Automatic, but the 5100 definitely not.

Hi,

This is my first post and i would like to ask what's your opinion and feedback of this new firmware.

Also, i would like to ask a few questions regarding this "World wide" firmware.

1 - Does have the 3G USB Support?

2 - Is the UnPn problem fixed?

3 - Remote administration fixed?

4 - Is this firmware stable? Even with stress tests like using torrents.

Thanks in advance,
BR

I say what I know. UPnP problem is solved (Win7). For what I have had it in, it's stable. Don't know others, because I don't use those abilities.

Hi,

Can confirm 3g is working.

Using huwaei e220 as we speak.

Solves some issues experienced with 1.21 fw and 1.32.

Hi,

Glad to hear that the 3G card is working :)

My ISP is also providing cards from that brand.

Br,

I should add huwaei e220 has issues with all firmware.

I figured out how  to get it going in fw 1.21. Typical uptime was 4 days before it would get disconnected. Although had it working great once for some weeks before a power cut. This router's firmware suffers from a serious case of "jubalani" somwetimes. No wonder the firmware people can't figure out the problems - the problems seems so random sometimes.

For 1.21 fw - To get it going I had to reboot the router 3 three times one after the other, (each time just changing a value in the 3g settings i.e auto pap+chap to chap only to auto chap+pap or country provider etc /uk -italy -uk) But it always works after this.

But it is a pain as you can see. A script to automate this would be great !!

So far have yet to find a trick to get it going in the new firmware consistently after disconnection- sometimes it just works fine / others a power cycle. Only being using it for a few days thus far.

It has fixed the mtu issue on this firmware. 1.21 I had it set at 1346. This one is fine at default.

And the performance seems better than 1.31 fw. Best performance for me was 1.21 (3g) / wireless is better on 1.3 or above.

This 1.34ww definitely connects fastest with my laptop. (i.e inital connection) compared to the other firmwares.

To be honest if you seriously need 3g connection - buy the dlink dwa 3g modems for this device or you could get a 3g router ( i think edimak do a really cheap one / way cheaper than the dlink dongles) and connect it to the router. Although I havent tested either but am assuming either option will work fine.

My e220 cost me Ģ7 and having been using for several months. :)

I will report back about uptimes /issues  with the e220 and this firmware and general stuff after some more use with it.

I'm using 1.32 EU firmware and it seems a little bit more stable than the previous versions.

The uptime is about 5days and counting...

Anyways i think i would stick with this version more 3 or 4 weeks. After that period i will upload this new version.

This sudden death problems with this type of equipment is a usual among all brands, if you want a good equipment you need to buy a real router. I had a lot similar equipment, netgear, linksys, asus etc...

Most of them overheat or add a lot of bugs in their firmware.

hi ll:
had to downgrade from 1.34NA to 1.21 Downgrader from ftp site germany by the way its a nice software removes NA and back to normal then upgraded to 1.34WW beta.
1.Tried the 3G usb option on 3 different hauwaii usbs modems only worked on E220 works fine but u must use the advanced dns configuration, must be enabled (this worked for me)

2. I still having problems with shareport 3 something is wrong with it, can't know what as am using a new windows seven so a lot is closed and have to open ports and things, may be the router but can't hear any one else screaming about it.

3.played on line with pes2010 on ps3 and xbox live works as a charm so there is nothing about lag, UPnP, or ports all working fine.

4. as for wireless there is no drop in frames nothing, i'll check later file transfer big ones and report back.
thanks a lot  nice firmware
