Worth upgrading to Samsung SpinPoint F3?
« on: August 06, 2010, 04:17:57 PM »

I've been running 2 Seagate Baracudas 500GB 32MB Cache for a couple of years now. I love my DNS323 and have been toying with the idea of upgrading the drives to 2 Samsung SpinPoint F3s based on the fantastic reviews these drives have. Obviously, I'll have more capacity- but will I notice any performance gain? Is it really worth it? From what I can tell the drive specs don't seem much different to what I have in terms of access times but it's hard to find decent comparison info. I read somewhere these Samsung drives have a long warranty period and high MTBF. I'm all for reliable drives.

Your performance is limited by other factors, having better performing disks will have no effect on the actual performance of the box.
