Cannot connect to DRP 1260 (wrong subnet)
« on: November 16, 2020, 12:16:19 PM »

Hi guys,

I am fighting with my pld DPR 1260.
I have a new box and its network subnet is 192.168.1.xxx.
But the DPR-1260 has by default IP : 192.186.0.10
So my router cnnot connect.

I tried the following (I read multiple time this procedure):
Change ip on one PC with IP = 192.168.0.9 / 255.255.255.0 / gateway = 0.0.0.0 (defaulted by Windows)
But this does not work and I do not understand why

Can one you take few minutes to help me ?

Thank you very much for you help

Patrice

Connect the PC with the 192.168.0.9 IP directly to the print server (bypass the router) and you should be able to configure it, then connect it back to the router.

I believe the print server has DHCP enabled by default so if it is connected to the router it should get an  IP address unless you statically assigned the IP with your old router.

Thank you for your help

I tried again a minute ago. It does not work. I am cleary missing someting...

My PC has fixed IP. ipconfig = 192.168.0.17 / 255.255.255.0 / 0.0.0.0
Connected directly to DPR1260 with cable.
PC under W7, use Internat explorer
When I connect to 192.168.0.10, it does not work
My DPR is192.168.0.10. when connected to my router, it tells me that a device with 192.168.0.10 is in a wrong subnet.

There is a flaw somewhere, but I can't figure out where...

Thank you for your help

That is strange.  Did you use the same WiFi name/password on your new router? The print server could be connecting via WiFi and for some reason is not changing subnets or allowing you in? If you disconnect the Ethernet cable from the router to the print server does it show up on connected devices?

Try the following:
1. With the PC connected directly to the print server, instead of using the IP address, try http://dlink-XXXXXX  where xxxxxx is the last 6 characters of the print server's MAC address (printed on the label on the bottom).

2. This is a UPnP device so it "should" show up on your PC (when connected to your pc via ethernet or wireless). Generally you can double-click the icon to connect to the interface.

3. If all else fails, reset the print server and set up from scratch. Unfortunately all your settings will get deleted.

Manual link - https://eu.dlink.com/uk/en/-/media/consumer_products/dpr/dpr-1260/manual/dpr_1260_manual_ug_v1_3_en.pdf
Setup starts on page 8. Maybe try there. For me it is almost always something simple I am missing after pulling my hair out for hours.

Hello GreenBay

I am not lucky. I did all you proposed. There must be something obvious that I miss every time.

Here is what I did
I rebooted my DPR1260
I reset it (20 seconds)
I removed wifi from my PC
I connected a cable from my DPR to my PC
I changed my PC's IP to 192.168.0.17 / 255.255.255.0 / 0.0.0.0
I opened IE (W7) and type 192.168.0.10
And... nothing :-(
What can I miss ?

Your ideas are more than welcome

Thznk you

Sorry for the delay.

When you connect via ethernet directly to your PC, can you ping 192.168.0.10? If not then either print server is bad, bad cable, or using a different IP address. Resetting it should change it to the default 192.168.0.10 address.

Are you getting a link light? I know these older devices may require a crossover cable to connect directly to your computer.

Possible the device is defected or has some corruption in the firmware. I am not aware of a way to crash recover/emergency firmware. With most D-Link devices, turn the device off, hold a paperclip in the reset hole and then turn the device on while holding the reset button. In most cases hold for 10-15 seconds and release, The device should go through the boot process.

With your PC statically assigned as you do, try going to 192.168.0.10 or http://dlink-XXXXXX as from my previous post. There is usually a screen to load firmware. If not, then the print server may be dead.

You may want to contact D-Link tech support in your region. They can possibly give you specific instructions on how to fix it.

The US stopped support on this in 2013 so I do not have much information. There is an FAQ on their legacy site on how to set it up. Reset it and try this:

https://legacy.us.dlink.com/pages/article.aspx?id=3a3bc72d60e84136ad403c4f30594a12

It states after firmware 1.12 you have to use DHCP server so maybe they removed the default IP which would be strange.
