Hello,
I have a DIR 505 and want to use it in the repeater mode with my wireless modem (Dlink dir 855). I want to connect Dir 505 to my laptop and mobile phone which I use out in the garden and so need to extend my modem's range. My current wifi network is working just fine.
I connected the DIR 505 to the wall socket and can enter the http://dlinkrouter/Wizard_AP.htmpage (192.168.0.1) so that I can customize it and set it up to work as repeater.
When I am promt to choose “Select Configuration Method” I choose Manual and then the scanning is on looking for available wifi network and here is where the problem comes. My wifi network is not on the list. Why!?  Both my Dlink dir 855 which I use to connect on the internet and Dlink DIR 505 are in the same room so distance cannot be the problem why DIR 505 is not seeing my wifi network. Here on this link  http://prntscr.com/8rbof3 my wifi network and all the others.
Where or what am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!
Miro

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your routers? Look at sticker under the routers case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded on each router? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What wireless modes are you using the 855 router?
What security modes are you using on the 855?
Is the SSID hidden by chance?

Try setting channel 1, 6 11 or 13 on the 855.
Disable WISH and WPS on the 855 router
Disable WPA security as a quick test on the 855. Then scan again on the 505. Can it see the SSID then? Reenable WPA and try WPA2/AES Only.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS finally!  God bless you!!! Thank you very much. Could not have done this without you.

But I need to ask you : what is the best option when using Dir 505 as Repeater. To set its name the same as my wifi network (Use the same Wi-Fi Network Name for the Extended Network )or to put another name (Give your Extended Wi-Fi network a name.)?
Once again thank you and best regards to you

Glad you got it working.

Try either mode and see what works best for you.
