This is an old topic but the tips here are what got my DIR-505 connected to the hotel's wifi so I could connect several devices. With the DIR-505 I have a private network and can connect my Chrome Cast to the TV. I had to keep resetting the DIR-505 and starting the setup from fresh, finally after a lot of retries, it finally worked. Many times I could connect to the DIR-505 but did not have any Internet connection. Seems the hotel's log-in page doesn't always come up if it came up once before. What worked is after I finished yet another setup of the DIR-505, setting up with my laptop, but still no Internet connection, I got out my tablet and connected to the DIR-505. Lo and behold, the hotel's log-in page popped up. That was what was missing on my laptop's browser even though I would shut down the browser (Chrome) and start it again. All the time the DIR-505 was probably working OK, just the laptop's browser was not bringing up the hotel's log in page.
Some tips for hotel setup to share one access code or to seup a private network in a hotel room to connect a streaming device.
- Set DIR-505 to Wi-Fi hotspot mode
- Refresh your browser to force the hotel log-in page to come up
- If you have another device such as a phone or tablet in addition to a laptop, try connecting to the DIR-505, it may force the hotel log-in page to popup.
- Setup any Chrome Cast or streaming device at home to connect to the DIR-505, once the DIR-505 is connected in the hotel room, the Chrome Cast should connect right away.
Someone else asked if Chrome Cast works with the DIR-505, I can confirm it does, I've been reviewing today's photos and watching YouTube and Netflix on the hotel's TV via the Chrome Cast, controlled by my tablet.
