well it could be that the FW updated seemed to cause the issue however I would also think that maybe there was a problem that Dlink had to fix and possibly allowed the Wii to connect while at v1.02. Maybe something that could be incompatible that Nintendo is looking for specifically that Dlink doesn't support either. Unfortunately we can't get v1.02 reloaded. The lowest that these routers an go back to is v1.12. Wonder if these versions could might work for you.

Edit: fixed that. LOL  ::)

Thats quiet possible the issue then it becomes a bug in the SW of the Wii  instead or a combination of the two :(

Sony.... don't you mean Nintendo?
Anyway I'll keep in touch till we solve this mystery ^_^

Just to confirm, firmware version 1.20 and 1.21 will not allow downgrades of firmware bellow 2.x but FW version 1.22 and 1.23 will allow downgrades to 1.12?

No, you cannot down grade to 1.1x from any 1.2x version.

So I'm still on the original firmware (1.02 or whatever) and this router has been awesome for years until a couple of weeks ago when I'm having to plug and unplug the router about once or twice a week...I'm wanting to update to the most current FW, 1.23 NA.  Should I do that, or go to something like 1.15, or just keep it as is and live with plug and unplugging once or twice a week?

I'd really like this problem to go away, but I don't want to make it worse.  Thanks.

What ISP service do you have? DSL or Cable?
What ISP modem do you have. Stand alone or built in router?

How are you connecting to the router? Wired or Wireless?
If Wireless, what modes are you using?
Any other Wifi routers in the area?
Any cordless house phones?
What devices are you connecting that you see this issue with?
Has anything changed over the pasted week that might effect your network?

ISP = Verizon FIOS (Fiber to the Premises)

No ISP modem, router connects directly via ethernet to FIOS ONT.

Connecting devices to router wirelessly, always 5ghz N ONLY

Plenty of other wifi routers in the area, none at 5ghz

No cordless phones around.

This issue happens with all devices that connect (laptops, phones with wifi that support 5ghz n, anything connected to the 5 ghz n wireless bridges I use).  Now it appears to be once a day when I need to reset because of an inability to load a page or do anything with the internet forcing me to reset.  There are zero problem on Verizon's end, i.e. it's not an ISP problem, definitely an issue with DGL-4500.  Once I plug and unplug it's fine until the next time this problem shows up (which used to be several days, now it appears to be once a day)

NOTHING has changed over the last few weeks, this issue just started popping up all of a sudden.  Wondering if a change to firmware (even to 1.15) would help or if I simply need a new router.

Thanks.

Well really doesn't mean its the routers issue if it's been working all this time and just started exhibiting this issue. I would investigate your environment.

What happens if you change from N to G mode only? Same disconnects?

What are these wireless bridges you use? Can you turn these off to test and just use the 4500 WiFi to connect too?
I bet if the wired is working well, then something on the WiFi side of your system maybe the issue here.

Try to narrow it down. Go with Single mode G at 2.4Ghz to test. Using only one Wifi Device. Turn ALL other OFF in meantime and test. See how it goes. Then try adding more devices. If you don't see any issues, then switch to N mode. See how that goes. Try both Frequencies.

Let us know how it goes.
