DGL 4500 with DGL 4300 Bridged for more ports???????
« on: June 18, 2009, 09:14:12 PM »

I am currently using a DGL 4500 for my wired/wireless network. I need some more LAN ports. I have an extra DGL 4300. Is it possible to bridge the 4300 to the 4500 to get some extra ports? If not, what would be the least expensive way to get more LAN ports?

Thanks

Suggest you just by a gigabit switch.  You can get them in 4 to 24+ port flavors and you can simply add addtional switch(s) if you didn't get enough ports on the first one.  They are reasonably priced with 4-5 ports around $30-$40, 8 ports around $50-$60, etc.  I run a switch on each floor (3 story house) to service multiple computers.

Bridging should work if you choose to go that way, but adds a whole new string of configuration issues.

Switches are plug and play....no configuration required!

Yes you can bridge if you disable dhcp and change the 2nd routers IP address like 192.168.0.2
