How to know when DNS-343 is in Standby
« on: January 07, 2009, 07:33:04 AM »

I've tried disabling itunes and UPnP servers, even disconnected ethernet cable, and it still won't go into standby.  Hibernation is enabled at 10 min.  I'm using temperature as an indicator of standby because I don't know what else to look for.  My unit is always running between 43C and 45C.  I have the latest firmware and have not installed any software. I've got two 1TB WD HD's in RAID 1. Any ideas?  Thanks!

I don't think there is anyway of telling, apart from temp and drive noise.

My 343 is around 42-44C at the lowest (It is currently summer here). I have 4x 1.5TB in RAID 5, but I think the sleep function works. As I can hear the drives spin back up, if I access my unit after a period of inactivity, sounds the same as when I turn on the unit.

But I don't think there is a actual way of the unit notifying you on the state of the drives. Could be a feature request?  :)
