Just curious.  Would love it see it stop flashing and just stay solid to let you know its in bridge mode.  Thanks

Flashing lights indicate activity and solid usually means a lock up.. Not sure how everyone would feel about changing this? I like flashy lights   ;D

I agree with VOS
Solid LED's that flash off briefly to indicate data transfer are the norm. Continuous flashing LED's (especially orange ones) indicate a problem

The light pattern is not likely to change.

Out of curiosity, is there any user testing that goes on during the product lifecycle? Are there user researchers who watch the out-of-box experience with the product, and how users react to the setup process, what the lights mean, etc.?

Just curious, as I also thought that a continuously flashing light meant "something is wrong".

The color of the bridge LED should change to blue or green.
The orange flashing light is irritating.
That was one of the rare moments, in which I had read in a manual  ;D

lizzi, I had to read the manual too! (And from research, it's known that most consumers don't).

I actually went so far as to put some electrical tape over the flashing light as it was so annoying, essentially defeating its purpose. D-Link's engineers aren't likely to change it, but we can always "modify" it. :)

As a long time tech geek I have never participated in a post.  This flashing amber bridge light has driven me to speak up.  This light is horrible and should be addressed in a firmware update.

A flashing orange light which indicates status normal isn't enough. I think it needs an audible alarm which sounds every few minutes... just to let you know that it's working.  ;D

Sadly, only low end routers like the DIR-615 gets useful LED's on the front. I like its little world icon that turns green (not flashing) when it has a valid IP address from your ISP and red when it doesn't have an IP.

I guess users who spend hundreds of dollars on networking equipment might feel insulted by such useful information at the tips of their fingers. I'd probably have more hair though, if I did!
