I just installed my Dlink Water Sensor, but there's no where to ask questions!

Thanks!

I've installed my Dlink Water Sensor and tha iPhone app and it's all working but:

1. How do I set the loudness of the audible alarm? I don't want it to keep the neighbors awake all night if it's triggered when we're out of town. Can I turn it off and just rely on the notifications?
2. The setup lets me set two responses -- email and "Notification." What's Notification?
3. Is there an option to have it send a text message as a response? If not, well, please add that!
4. "Send notifications when this action runs." Is that simply an on/off switch for the action?
5. Am I notified if the unit gets disconnected from my Wifi or otherwise isn't working properly in any way?

Thanks!

6. Also, can I set up the app so that it notifies my wife's phone or email address in addition to mine?

7. And: I've set up my Water Sensor with my iPhone Dlink app, but when I log into the mydlink Web site using the same username and password, it reports "Your account has no devices." What's up with that?

3. Is there an option to have it send a text message as a response? If not, well, please add that!

That would make Dlink have to run a service to send out texts, and then you'd have to start paying monthly fees to keep that up.

This has email notification, right?  What you can do - is find out your email address for your phone, so you can email yourself and get a text.

Or - create a new email only for notifications - and use it for nothing else - and make it pretty hard to guess for spammers..  Then have your phone notifications turned on for that email account.

Also review the user manual for configuration of email notifications and such for this unit as well.

The user manual says nothing about setting up two email addresses. It would seem to be impossible. The app automatically choses the email address in my profile and doesn't seem to allow for a second email notification. At least that's how it seems to work. But the manual says nothing about it.

Also, the user manual was almost impossible to find. It's not included in the box, there's no mention of it anywhere (the paperwork included only refers to installing the app), and I can't even find a page or reference to the S160 Water Sensor anywhere on the Dlink site. I finally goggled "DCH-S160 manual" and found a pdf.

What region are you located?  ???
USA or NA regions can find support for the S160 here which includes the user manual as well:
http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DCH-S160 (http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DCH-S160)

Only one email address is supported on the mydlink.com services. So if you need notifications on each device, you'll need to set up each mobile device to point to the main account where the sensor is associated. You could do this, have a generic email account with a provider, then point all of your mobile devices and mydlink.com services to this one generic account.

That's what I figured. But it's shame I can't just add additional notification destinations. I'd like my wife to be notified, too, and it should be simpler.

But thanks for confirming.

Can point her app to the mdl account.

Good Luck.

Set up email forwarding in your email. Set it to only forward emails that match alerts to the water sensor.
