Internet radio problem
« on: August 21, 2014, 05:47:51 AM »

I needed something to get Intenet radio wireless to Yamaha RX-V575. I bought D-Link DIR-600 for that. Now it seems impossible to link D-600 to my wireless network. I have Zyxel P-660HN-T1A as  a modem for my ADSL-connection. When cabled, DIR-600 works ok, but when plugged out, signal goes until buffering ends. Any hints how to solve ths problem?

Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

The DIR-600 does not support bridging or repeating:

Ver. B6 F/W Ver. 2.16 (updated to 2.17). Area: Europe

Earlier I managed to get TP-Link WR-841N to work intended way, but then I lost the settings and never managed to get them back. I decided to buy DIR-600 to replacement in hope of easier installment. Now it seems to be wrong purchase. I have tried those methods recommended in other problems but without success.

Ya, A DAP series that features bridge or repeater or one of the DIR series thats listed in that sticky is needed for your configuration. Once you get either one of these, you'll be good to go.

What is the Mfr and model of the main host WiFI router?

Modem/router is Zyxel P-660HN-T1A. I still don't understand how I managed to get that TP-Link to work, because it seems similar to DIR-600 except the higher speed.

I suggest something from this list:
http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/home-solutions/connect/access-points-range-extenders-and-bridges

I believe the DAP-1360 will work best.

Probably, but it does not solve this problem now. Only thing needed is that Yamaha gets connection to modem (my wireless network) and its Vtuner settings in Internet. What's the difference between DIR-600 and that TP-Link, while DIR-600 cannot do the same thing.

No idea what the differences are. You'll need look at the specs for each and compare. You'll need to contact TP-Link about that unit.

Good Luck.

I called the fellow who sold this D-Link to me and according to him D-Link does just what I expect. Finding the correct settings is the problem. Nobody here seems to know nothing about those settings, I presume.

If you can't find anything like this on the router, then it's probably not supported:

This one is located under Setup/Internet/Manual.

Did you ask the fellow where exactly bridging features are located on this model router?

Too late to ask him today. Instead I read through TP-Link's manual and there was something about WDS-bridging. Does that make the difference between D-Link DIR-600 and TP-Link? If so, Ill have to return D-Link and take back TP-Link. They'll have e.g. Asus RT-N12 D1 and it should work as a repeater. I'll guess that's what I need. Thank you about your patience.

The DIR does not have any WDS bridging. The DAP 1360 does.

Good Luck.

Yes, I know that now. Does the repeater mode do the same thing I need? Then I might consider that Asus too. They'll (the shop I bought D-Link) have those costlier D-Link-models (mostly DIR???L) too, but I'll only have to get the signal over two or three meters distance, because otherwise somebody mess with cable and make a destruction.
