I just got a dir 815 to mess around with, and according to the box / web interface the f/w is version 2.0. Looking on theses forms and online it looks like 1.03 is the most recent? Any ideas?
Sorry if this is the wrong sub-forum, seemed like this one has alot of 815 posts, mods please move if there is a better location.

This is the B1 version, in the US.

Is there a problem with the router?
-
Just seems weird that brand new from amazon, it would have an unreleased / undocumented f/w version
-
Well, if you got this from Amazon, then it's possible there is some cross region going on. Rev B is fairly new however it's only been posted to D-Link Canadian site. While Canada is apart of the NA region, I noticed that the Rev B support site for the U.S. either hasn't been updated or may not be support here in the U.S. officially. I have forwarded this on to D-Link in hopes they will respond and let me know what the deal is with Rev B 815s. I'll post if I get any information. Please be patient.
I recommend that you use the router out of the box and see how it works for you. Generally these routers work well out of the box. If there are problem seen, please post here in the forums first before trying to upgrade FW. If we can't figure it out, then using FW from the Canadian site could be an option.

You are completely right, I checked the CA version of the dlink website site and they had the version of the f/w I'm currently running. I have searched around and haven't found much. Has any one on here had luck flashing dd-wrt onto either of the dir-815 models?
-
Currently WRT only supports the 825, and 835 series. You'll need to refer to the WRT site for information if they are going to add the 815.
-
has any one in here attempted to unpack the f/w .bin, make changes to the configs inside the file system and repack and flash?
-
Can you confirm that you are in the U.S.?
And was the 815 bought from Amazon from a seller in the U.S. as well?
Please let us know.

got it from HOT DEALS DIRECT
They only had one left after I bought mine, so they must have sold out.
-
Thank you for the information. Any chance you might know if they are based in the U.S. or not? Just curious.
-
no idea, sorry. You know if there is any way to ssh into a dir-815 box directly??
Thanks again

You could attempt to telnet to the routers IP address .0.1. If the router supports it, the telnet daemon may not start until after the router is fully booted to ready or 1 full minute after the router is at ready. Keep trying to telnet in during this time frame and see. Not sure what you will find.
Let us know what you get.

FYI, I got information that Rev Bs will be coming to the U.S. D-Link main web site. So full support will be complete for the 815.

FYI, Rev B as been posted to the main U.S. web site.
