Security on D-Link network
« on: January 28, 2012, 12:32:13 PM »

I noticed my neighbors have a WEP password on their wi-fi networks but I don't with my DIR-601 router.  (I thought WEP was rather insecure.) But when I logged into the router and filled in the blank password field it refused to connect and showed no way to change it. I understand there is an always-active firewall built in. Does that protect my data and doesn't need a password? I also entered the router PIN number in a field but nothing further happened when I did. Do I need to set up WPS using the Wizard?
(I may have eliminated the password in the past due to it not working with my Wi-Fi radio.)

Are you logged into the router as admin?
Use Setup/Wireless/Manual to configure the wireless settings and security.
referred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.

Try using a different browser like opera or ff.
