Title: Small query - Using DIR 615 as AP
Post by: jeet81 on September 04, 2021, 11:15:23 AM
Hi,
This is my first post. I have DIR 615 Hardware E4 FW 5.13. I want to use my DIR615 as an access point. I have gone thru this guide. http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40856.0  (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40856.0) and my small query prompted me to join this forum.

The question is should the static IP assigned to AP be one from the DHCP range of main router, or should it be outside of it?
e.g. Main Router is say 192.168.0.1  and its DHCP range is say 192.168.0.100 thru 192.168.0.200  then should I reserve one of the IPs from within this range for AP or should it be something outside like 192.168.0.2  or 192.168.0.201 ?

Hope my query is clear. Any inputs shall be great. Thanks in advance.

Outside of the main host routers DHCP IP address pool.
