So I think the consensus is that the newest firmware is bad and we should not upgrade to it. Should I stick to v2.0 then?

Is there an ETA of when we will get a FIX???

I just bought a Seagate 3TB hard drive but it looks like I won't be able to use it.  >:(

If I install my 3TB hard drive with Version 2.0 fw, what happens?

The factory default firmware does not support 3TB HDDs. The HDD will format to a lower capacity.

I just signed up so I could comment on this :)

Yes, the recently posted 2.03b03 firmware does not corrupt and supports 3tb hard drives!

I recently bought two 3tb hard drives to replace the two 1tb hard drives I currently have (in raid 1). I installed Terracopy to transfer all the data as it has the option to CRC test all the copied files. To my surprise about 90% of all the files failed the CRC check, which lead me to these forums. I was using 2.02 firmware so I thought I might as well try 2.03b01 and got exactly the same number of errors.

I then found the post above recommending 2.03b03 and so far I have had zero CRC mismatches so it seems the corruption issue has been fixed.

I can't really comment on other features as I don't use them.

I would just like to note that whilst the dns-320 may only be a consumer product, holy hell d-link! Releasing firmware 2.02 as non-beta that corrupts 90% of users data!? Must be smoking some serious doobies at the dlink headquarters...

Hope this helps.
Tim

Edit:
To copy all data from the old 1tb hard drive to the new 3tb hard drive, I installed two programs that may be of help to other members of this forum. I plugged one of the old hard drives into my pc and the new hard drives into the nas.

ext2fsd http://www.ext2fsd.com/
This allows you to mount the ext3 formatted drive in windows and view it as a normal drive in explorer.

Teracopy http://codesector.com/teracopy/
This replaces the windows explorer file copy with its own, which is faster and allows you to CRC check the old data with the newly copied data. An excellent idea for dns-320 owners.

Finally, it appears that version 2.03b03 fixes  "0 kilobytes" issue.

Thanks for link for this version.

Not sure if it's a fluke or what... I upgraded from v2.0 to v2.03b1 and my xfer speeds (PC to DNS-320) shot up considerably....much better xfer speeds.

I didn't get a chance to "technically" test this, so someone in the forum may want to verify this.

Can you provide the pre-upgrade and post-upgrade throughput?

I can't say I've noticed any difference. Copying over to the NAS a large 8GB file transferrs at around 25MB per second, which is similar to the old speeds as far as I remember.

Still zero corruptions after a week of use on 3tb drives :)

Your HDD 1TB RAID1 was in?
In my DNS-320 firmware 2.00 two discs(80 Gb) in RAID1 could not use the ext2fsd.
STANDARD settings (not RAID) is plug the disk into a Linux OS.

Thanks

Yep the drives were in raid 1, which as far as I'm aware is exactly the same as JBOD, just mirrored onto two drives. I tried a variety of ext3 mounting programs for windows and none of them worked. The dlink forums recommended  this: http://www.fs-driver.org/ but that did not work for me. ext2fsd was the only one that worked for me. I had to restart the computer, then load up the program, start the service and assign a drive letter to the largest partition on the drive. After that it worked perfectly and I could copy all the data very quickly.

Hope this helps

DNS-320 with 2.02.  Two 2TB WD Red drives.

I found that I can create a RAID1 volume at 1tb and select the option "leaving the remaining disk space for future".  I checked this box as I wanted to create a second RAID1 volume.

The first volume was created and formatted.  The message of success was displayed and I returned to the Disk Management screen.  Now I was presented with an option to create another volume in the free space.  This looked like it was going to take me through the same screens, but instead went of to attempt formatting the space, but hung on a screen that said "Formatting 0%" and stayed there.

Speaking to DL Tech Support, they were surprised that this happened, but have confirmed that the disks I am using should be okay in this unit.  They recommended a RAID1 volume with the remainder of the drives as a single JBOD volume.

I've been given a download like to 2.03b03 which I have downloaded but not yet used.

Has anyone else managed to get two RAID1 volumes created on this NAS box?
