Title: Dlink DSL-2640B port forwarding not working !
Post by: nirob on October 23, 2010, 11:38:47 PM
Hi,

I'm frustrated for the port forwarding issues of my ADSL router. I added my IPCAM to my router port forwarding  as 192.168.1.3 & all port to 80 where my router ip is 192.168.1.1
& setup my ip cam to 192.168.1.3 port :80
when i try to login using public ip it shows only my router not camera.

any one please help me to shot out the problem, is there any other setup required to router end, i mean firewall, port trigger etc.

waiting for reply.

Hello ,

I have exactly the same problem as you.

Ok, I'll be a bit more specific...

Problem: Will not port forward, and DMZ does not work.

I did all the steps in port forwarding, assign static IP address set ports and proper TCP/UDP protocols. Tried to reboot and test,(not sure if you have to reboot everytime) the ports are still closed. I also have a question about some of the settings in the port forwarding menu. There is a input box for -REMOTE IP- I do not know what to enter in that field.

I have the latest firmware which is EU 4.00 firmware..

I feel I must be doing something wrong has I got in touch with d-link support and he told me that some features were not working, he couldn't access the router remotely, I assumed that it was faulty, But I had another one and it is doing the same, Am i missing something or do ip providers lock-out certain fuctions of the router they supply.

Thanks,

Sam

EU_4.00 Hardware Version: B2

Same issue with all the different services I wanted to make it joinable from the outside... it's worse under linux with the firewall but this is another issue...

I tryed with a proxy on 8080 it is the same issue (redirecting 80 inbound requests to 8080 on machine 3)
I tryed with dynDNS, no way to join simply the web server located on machine 3 on 192.168.1.0/24 network .

I'm a little disappointed because I was expecting easier way to sort myself out...

I think the remote IP is the address to be seen as the peer address (the one sending requests) or the router's IP address you can see in the status menu at IP Address : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.
I tried both cases but it still won't work as expected, I always have the router's interface...

Was easier without this f*^ùùg ADSL, ... but the provider is no longer available where I'm living now...

Still no answer ?

I saw that "once the firewall enabled, (By default, all incoming IP traffic from the Internet is blocked when the firewall is enabled) there is no incoming traffic forwarded by the router.

I tried to put my computer on the DMZ (The DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) option lets you set a single computer on your network outside of the router. If you have a computer that cannot run Internet applications successfully from behind the router, then you can place the computer into the DMZ for unrestricted Internet access.) but no way to access my web server using this setting.

No way to let this work:

using port forwarding feature -- redirect external port 80 to internal port 80 to the machine 2 on the lan...

HTTP    80    80    TCP/UDP    80    80    192.168.1.2

even if I used

HTTP         8080 8080 TCP/IP 8080 8080 192.168.1.2

or put the remote ip as the "public" address delivered by the ISP (that may change)

I went to the inbound filter feature and add the incoming traffic from everywhere on port 80 opened to destination 192.168.1.2... (did I rather put the router's public address there ?)...

I'll try those settings but it's really frustrating... using a router is a burden...

Hi Guys,

I have a similar issue on the D-Link DSL-2640B with CCTV.

Well.. i done set all Port Forwarding & also DDNS (I am using Dynamic IP ISP)

Once done, check the Port, it was open.....
then i restart the modem , check the port again, it was close.
i try again and again...sometimes was open sometimes was close.

Of Course. if the port is close, CCTV will not be able to access from outside.

Do anybody facing this issue ?

I'm also having problems with this ADSL router. In my case, with the DMZ and port forwarding. Port forwarding seems to work sometimes in some ports, in some not. In the cases it works, it seems to apply the settings instantly, no need to reboot. When it doesn't work... well, neither a reboot will make it work.
Also problems with the DMZ. I live in Argentina. If I put one machine into the DMZ, then that machine can only enter sites from Argentina, if I try to enter sites from other part of the world, it never access them, it goes in a constant loop of waiting. When I put that machine out from the DMZ, all works "well" again, but then I need to forward ports, which doesn't seem to work properly...
Any ideas ?

HW version: T1
Firmware: in the sticker says BCM-3.10L.TF.20090327, inside the configuration page, it says GE_1.80.

Does anyone of you find the solution? Is DSL-2640B cannot port forward?

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42458.0) version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?

What ISP Service do you have?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged.
If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.

Dlink 2640B port forwarding not working at all! Already upgrade to latest firmware, still not working. (I was technical engineer few years ago, dealing with dlink, tp-link, zyxel, linksys, etc)
It works fine with my other modem, linksys & innacomm (streamyx).
For CCTV, I use DMZ, it's always recommend to use DMZ for CCTV. But port forwarding failed! Dlink has never solve the issue. Regret customer!

I know what the problem is but not how to fix it.

They are using port 80 for router user interface. So when you login to the router you are  using port 80. This has not been set anywhere,  but 80 is used as it is default. If you open Maintenance page and go to Access Controls and then Services you can see port 80 taken.

So the trick is to make the router use some other port, like 8080 and release port 80 for HTTP.

I have no idea how to do this.

This be might be by design. I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask about this feature and if there is any other configurations needed to make PF work well.

Thank you, will keep this in the archives for any future needs.

1. Go to Maintenance->Access Controls->Services; under Remote Access Control section, enable HTTP service, BUT change the port to what ever temp number such as 7777.
2. Go back to Advanced->IP Forwarding; and now you can add HTTP Server with port 80. Click save/apply button to save it.
3. Now go back to Maintenance page. the Remote Access Control Http service port auto change to 8080.

Thank you for sharing and enjoy.

Some additional info, also may not work even if you properly configure port forwarding and firewall:
