Help with DAP-1155 Bridge!
« on: January 21, 2014, 08:08:44 PM »

Hey!

Yesterday i purchased a D-Link Wireless N 150 Bridge/Access Point (DAP-1155) from OfficeWorks ( I currently have it set up in BRIDGE mode!). I got it set up and everything and it does it's job. However, it likes to drop out anywhere between every 5 minutes all the way up to every 3 hours. The only way to fix it is to unplug it and plug it back in.

It is currently being used in bridge mode and is hooked up to my Thompson TG782T.

I have tried moving it up closer. It's only a couple of meters away, but's that's as close as i'm physically able to move it. There is a little bit of wall in the way but not much, if that makes any sense.

Product: DAP-1155 (Bridge Mode)
Firmware: 1.01 (Latest)
Signal Strength: 68

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

How far away is the DAP from the main host router?

Wireless Configurations for the Main Host Router
Links>Wireless Installation Considerations and Managing Signal Congestion and Good Neighbour Policy
  • What wireless modes are you using?
  • 2.4Ghz Routers only: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
  • Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
  • Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
  • What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES.
  • Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?

I'm in Sydney, and only bought my DLink router last week and had similar problem with the DAP-1360, having consistant connection loss. I'm using it as an access point. After trying all the suggestions on forum of changing settings, I changed the Ethernet cable that came with the device. Problem solved so far, no lost connections for over 30 hrs.

I replaced the boxed Ethernet cable with a Cat 6 type Ethernet cable which I got from Jaycar, and they have various lengths from .5 to 10 metres lengths.

Hope this assists.

I've tried using both Cat 5 and Cat 6 Ethernet cables, but still... no luck :( Thank's anyway!

If your still having problems, i recommend phone contacting your regional D-Link support office and ask them to review the settings and situation and see if there help and find the fix.
