DIR-605L
H/W version : A1
F/W version: V1.12(CN)

Hello, I am not so good at this. So, just posting details as I understood from reading the Internet.
I bought this router from China. Recently, decided to bring back and set it up in India.

ISP: BSNL(Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited)
Location: India.

Requesting for direct links,
1) English Language pack, since my whole page is in Chinese
2)  Latest Firmware, suitable for me.
If I can download these 2 files, I know how to update them. If there are any possible suggestions, post them too.

I do not have any language packs but you can try going to http://tsd.dlink.com.tw and try installing the ones there.

The US/WW (world wide) version firmware for rev A --> ftp://FTP2.DLINK.COM/PRODUCTS/DIR-605L/REVA/DIR-605L_REVA_FIRMWARE_1.16.B03_WW.ZIP

I am not sure if the CN version of the router will allow other region firmware installations. Let us know if it worked.

Hello,

Thanks for the quick reply and links.
I could update the firmware, Currently no problems with it.

About language packs, I downloaded the file 'DIR605LW_20 Language Packs.zip' & 'DIR-605LA1_FW 112 Language Pack.zip'
and extracted them.
but which one is english pack? Usually EN stands for english, right?

The language pack also works. I tried updating with 'EL' language pack, it worked.

Not sure which language it is, (cannot read)
still waiting for English Language pack.

Any possible help?

Simply installing the 1.16 firmware did not change it to English?

I honestly have not worked with language packs with this router. Loading in the pack should change it.

Have you tried resetting the router? (hold a paper clip in the reset hole for 10 seconds then releasing). This will remove any settings and change the default username to admin and leave the password box blank.

Clearing the language pack helped on this router --> http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=59728.0  and  http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=51522.0

Sometimes the FW file has the language pack. Removing pre-installed language pack sets it back to English.

I believe the CN version of the DIR-605L sets the default language to Chinese. I was hoping using the US/WW firmware 1.16 it would set it to English but I guess that is not the case. Not sure if an emergency firmware recovery would help. I do not see any English language packs for 1.16.

Thanks.
It really worked.
So here are the steps to follow, no matter the country of origin/language.

1) Learn to find and how to update the firmware manually.(by uploading the firmware file and updating it in your router)
2) Download the latest firmware from US store(if possible) and update it to your router.
3) Just after your router is updated, try resetting the router by holding down the reset button.
4) When you switch on again, it should ask, which language we want to continue.

Hope this helps future readers.  ;D ;D
