Title: DCS-5010L - Firmware Wishlist

Below is a summary of everyone's input thus far. Please let me know if I over generalized, misrepresented, or missed anyone's concerns and I'll refresh the list with updates. Recent items are highlighted in blue.

If any items in the wishlist were fixed by the latest firmware, please post and I'll update!

Swap out the embedded java applet for an <img> tag that embeds the mjpeg stream. Every browser for the last 5 years has been able to read embedded MJPEG streams. There's no need for Java. Plus, then you can use the native browsers on most smartphones instead of having to download an app.

Also it would be great if the source for the firmware included the HTML for pages hosted on the device. If they're in the GPL download, I can't find them.

Recording to Samba network drive.

Cannot understand why the cheaper cameras have this but this one doesn't.

new dlink 5010 owner/operator.
new to this forum. good board. thanks.
request fw update to provide ability to disable ir illuminators.
tape might work as a crude workaround but a fw fix would be better.
