DSL-2870B: Browser stalls on blocked sites
« on: April 16, 2014, 02:15:41 AM »

Hi, I am using keywords and URL blocking. I was using OpenDNS for my DNS but have since reverted to my ISP servers (thinking this was an openDNS problem).

Originally, when I blocked a site the D-Link router would block it and display an error on the web page for parts of the page that were blocked, or full page if the URL/keyword blocked the entire site.

I am using Firefox 28, but I get the same symptoms in IE8. I first noticed the problem around the release of Firefox 26.0.1

I reported problem to Mozilla but no solution was provided.

The URLs are like.

s7.addthis.com
partner.googleadservices.com
www.fastclick.net
doubleclick.net

What happens when the website attempts to access any of these URLs is that it just stops loading the web page until the site times out, then the webpage displays more or less normally. This timeout could be anything from 15 seconds to 60 seconds.

I did a factory reset on the DSL-2870B and reconfigured from scratch to no avail.

If I add URL to my hosts file I can block the site.

Any idea?
Thanks
Tanya

What happens if you go back to pre-v26 FF?
