Compiling Souce Code
« on: September 19, 2016, 02:04:12 PM »

Greetings All,
I've been playing around with compiling source code.
I'm curious if anyone knows how the camera determines it's model?

I found a watchdog script that uses mdb get dev_model.  That seems to give me the info I want but other than the watchdog I don't think anything else is using it to get the info.

Thanks
Ed

Just adding some stuff here in case anyone is interested....

Had a 2132L-ES camera.  Looking at source code I couldn't find differences between the 2132L-ES and 2311L-ES.
Looked at ways to make the 2311 look like a 2132 and found the Rules.make file.  It specified a MODEL variable so I changed the model to the one used in the 2132 ( it's not 2132 but rather some other unique specifier).

Updated the firmware but it just sort of bricked the camera.  Couldn't get it to do anything.

Unbricked by putting the FW on the SD card and resetting the camera.

I found a way to change the name of the camera in the web gui interface.  The overlay of the true model is still on the live video but when emails are sent it says it came from the changed name.  I suppose just a nice thing for the end user so you can distinguish between different cameras that are sending you alarms.
