D-ViewCam v3.0 available now!!
...
Works in 64bit!!

Have it working just fine on Windows 7 32-bit. All bells and whistles seem just fine. Just 2 920's, but it is a start. Going to install and test on Vista 64-bit now. Delete option more hidden inside backup now, but still 'findable'. Web-interface still needs some work, and it takes about 20% more CPU than 2.04 and 2.05, but still low.

Much more mature products. Great!

Is it possible to use older DLink cameras like DCS-950G? I was using DVIEWCam 2.05 but it has several issues.

Still have some little issues when starting Playback in 64-bit mode. Bit finicky on registry...

20/4/2010: Resolution should, for this version, not exceed 1280x1024 on 64 bit machines. Rest works fine. Remote desktop with 1280x1024 into localhost will work fine on local/remote playback with a screen you don't want to resize.

The link to download doesn't work :(

Try removing the first "ftp://".  Use this:

ftp.dlink.com/Multimedia/D-View%20Cam/DViewCam_300.zip

I can confirm it does work on Vista64!  :D

I tried to use D-ViewCam v3.0 with Windows 7 64 bit and it does install.  Only problem is, it doesn't look like it will support my DCS-G900 cameras.   Will it ever support the DCS-G900 camera?

I managed to get it to work with my DCS-G900 cameras by manually inputting the IP configuration information and ignoring the error message of conflicting devices.

Was able to get the software installed on a workstation running Windows 7 64 bit just fine. On another laptop I installed it so I can monitor the same cameras from another location or when I travel I get and error when the application runs:

The license is invalid. (Error code:2268435460)

I have searched for this and haven't found any reference to it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The new V3.11 version it is now working fine on high-res 64-bit  Windows boxes. Alas the multi-channel Playback still is not there... V3.11 is a small step over V3.01, but we will be keeping alert on new versions.

With regard the the d-viewcam license invalid error -

I finally found a solution - Uninstall your Dview cam completely
hit up regedit and delete the software key for dviewcam completely
reboot <--- Crucial!!
Install 3.11  -> working!

Woo Hoo!

Very odd that you needed to uninstall, reboot and install. With me it just upgraded from 3.01 to 3.11 on all boxes without even blinking. GUI is slightly different (mostly black vs grey on buttons), but all in all working fine now on 64-bit OS with high-res screen. And the added Export/Save log does help to find historical saves.
Still open for me:
* multi-channel playback
* event-driven playback (i.e. quickly locate motion detected and play from there on like V2 had)
* shorter options on skip-steps (1 min minimum is too large, or allow speeded-reverse play like V2 had)

I have few questions?

1) Where is D-ViewCam v3.1.1 available?
2) Does it work with Windows 7 - 64bit?
3) Does D-ViewCam work with DCS-1130 camera?
4) Can D-ViewCam software be used outside the network say from my office to monitor my home where the cameras are ?

Thanks in advance.

Couple of observations:

1) Min res for MainConsole is 1024x768.  This is a prob for Netbooks w/ max res of 1024x600 - can this be accomodated?
2) Is there a requirement to disable UAC in Win 7?

Thanks

On 1): Did not check that, all my devices have standard resolutions above that. And putting your resolution below that, well, never even thought of that. Will look into that.

On 2): Yeah, it seems 3.11 is even more strict on turning off UAC... With previous versions I just put storage on a non-restricted folder and then enabled UAC, but with 3.11 it will not allow you to continue with UAC on, even though the Windows (Vista/7) VirtualStore methoud should get you around that...

I need the manual for d-view cam 3.1 tried the link above for an hour cant get it to work, take the %20 out hit enter and it ads back in again, try to get it off the d-link site all that comes up is the registration form. any one have a pdf they can e-mail me?
Title: Re: D-ViewCam v3.0

There is a space embedded between "D-View" and "Cam", which translates to %20 when you save the url...

So "ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Multimedia/D-View Cam/" still works, as long as you DO NOT forget to have the space in there...
Just tested it (and it still works!), by copying the whole thing above between the quotes (not taking the quotes themselves), and open it in a new tab or window of your favourite browser...

That's odd. Other users downloaded, installed, and used the latest version without issue. My only thought is that the install package doesn't have the files for every version of Windows and/or hardware configurations, which would explain why some installations fail, while others succeed.

Vista Home Premium
Title: Re: D-ViewCam v3.0
Post by: Mackerel on August 15, 2011, 03:13:05 PM
The corrupted error was related to the combination of Win 64-bits and a high monitor resolution, but went away with 3.11 (and up). Could be your download zip-file was corrupted.

My advise, re-download, check on viruses and verify the zip-file itself on corruption.

I have had no problem with 3.11 and 3.20 on Vista HomePrem 64-bit... So that can't be it...

Given the circumstances, I agree with Mackerel's assessment.  As a further note, I installed D-ViewCam on Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit). No installation errors, no exceptions.

Hello,

I don't usually write to forums and I'm new to this one. But in this case I just feel compelled to do so !!

I just find EXTREMELY BAD that the D-View Cam Main Console gives me an error message and actually refuses to open if the resolution is not set to 1024 x 768. I NEVER saw (maybe back in the 80's ?) a software that does behave that way....
I am using an external monitor set to 720p (that's 1280x720) and I have to manually put the console onto my main screen (set to 1024 x 768) to be able to open the console, then drag it to the other monitor, where it will actually work !! (so why does it not open in the first place ??????)

Sorry if  I am doing something wrong and please correct me or give me a solution. I just felt I had to write this as I understand this should be improved. It's not correct to have such poor programming, even if it's free (well I paid for the IPCams so ...)  :(

Best

Alain

@albaum: Which version of D-ViewCam are you using? I have used the Console on various resolutions and have not had any real issues. D-ViewCam has a tendency ('bad habit') of taking the first monitor available as its main screen, but the requirement of it having to be XGA (1024x768) resolution I have never seen.

I am working under a few non-standard resolutions, the highest of which is 1920x1200 (not 1080), and I have not yet encountered this problem... I will try to find a 1280x720 screen to test. Or just resize my own screen... Will keep you posted.

Hi Mackerel,

Thank you for your post. I am interested to hear whether you get the same message when you work on a lower resolution than 1024x768 (in one of the axes since 1280 x 720 cannot be considered lower resolution than 1024x768).

When you say that d-viewcam has the 'tendency' to use the first monitor mainscreen, do you mean there is a way that it actually does not ? I could not find any way to do so.

Let me know if having 1024 x 768 is not a requirement (as I mentioned in my mail before you can start the software on a XGA resolution and then change the monitor resolution, and d-viewcam will then work, giving you first a warning and asking you if you want to restart since you have changed the resolution (¿))

Any help is welcome,
Sorry if I sound a little abrupt, but English isn't my first anguage and I feel a little frustrated.

By the way, does anyone know an alternative to D-viewcam which will work with th d-link cameras ?

Thanks

Alain

I'm currently using iSpy with both of my D-Link cameras because D-ViewCam still gives the License is invalid error.

(Any help with getting ViewCam working on XP x64 would be appreciated.  Tried all the reboot, uninstall iterations and version 3.11, 3.2 etc)

I have D-viewcam 3.0.  Everything work fine when I'm on site and on the same wifi network.
Problem is when I get home (same laptop) it will not connect to my cameras.

Was working fine before I updated to version 3.0.
Also have a 2nd laptop that work just fine no matter what wifi network I'm on.

This is my first ever post as well, wondering if anyone has a solution (tech line not able to resolve)

Dview Cam - installed

Launch "Main Console" - pop-up says " the minimum resolution for Main Console is 1024x768.  Please change the desktop resolution first"

Tried everything I could think of but to no avail.  Anyone have a suggestion?
