No Support for Windows 8?
« on: April 27, 2013, 08:25:02 PM »

Good Evening,

I have just recently purchased an Alienware Aurora R2 with windows 8 OS

I had to go out and get a wireless adapter for it so I decided to go with the DWA-182

Since i've started using it I get 1-2% packet loss while connected to the internet via the DWA-182.

When I connect the PC directly to the modem I get 0% packet loss.

When will d-link support windows 8 and come out with some drivers to fix this packet loss issue.

PS.
There is no problem with my wireless router, my ASUS ROG G75VW connects to it just fine with 0% packet loss via the built in wireless adapter on the laptop.

Packet loss statistics were obtained via pingtest.net and the noticeable lag spikes I get while online gaming with the DWA-182.

Hoping this is an issue with no driver support for windows 8, if so, which wireless adapters do you have that support win 8.

I recommend that you phone contact DLink support and ask about this. Ask for Level 3 or higher. Good luck.

If you do call Dlink support, be aware of the fact that they will charge you to talk to a tech.  It  cost me about $80.00 to find that Dlink has no drivers for Win 8 wifi and isn't in a rush to get any.  Good luck to us both!

The D-Link Taiwan website has a DWA-182 firmware for hardware version "C" that seems to support Windows 8. Here's what the release notes say:

Firmware: V3.00
Hardware C1
Date: 2013/Mar/06
Driver: Win8/Win8-64: 1023.5.0116.2013

There were 2 revision of DWA-182, original version is USB 2.0 using Broadcom chipset, and latest C1 revision is USB 3.0 using realtek chipsets. I don't think C1 realtek driver usable on Broadcom and vice versa.
