I have Ethernet network.
Computer, Asus, P5Q Deluxe. With wireless USB devise for internet connection.
NAS DNS-323
Popcorn Hour A-200 Network Media Tank (Media player)

When I use 3BB Broadband Router Huawei HG520c Router 4 E.

My Asus P5Q Deluxe, have now identified Home network on the Local Area Connection. I can have access to all network devise. Bud my wireless internet not work then. Maybe Huawei HG520c not works with the wireless USB devise for internet connection.

Computer, Asus P5Q Deluxe, Marvell Yukon: 88E8001 IP: 192.168.1.2
NAS DNS-323 IP: 192.168.1.3
PCH-A200 IP: 192.168.1.4

When I use D-Link 5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch DGS-1005d.

My Asus P5Q Deluxe, have now Unidentified public network on the Local Area Connection. Windows 7 tell me Local area Connection doesn't have valid IP configuration.
Computer, PCH-A200 has access and wireless USB devise for internet connection

Computer, Asus P5Q Deluxe, Marvell Yukon: 88E8001 IP: 169.254.58.11
PCH-A200 IP:   169.254.85.124
NAS DNS-323 cannot access even with the Easy Search Utility from D-Link. It lookalike NAS DNS-323, only work with IP: 192.168.x.x and not with IP: 169.254.x.x

First up, how are you connecting the Huawei ADSL router and the Gigabit switch?

Next, are your devices setup with static IP addresses or do the get the IP address from a DHCP server.  If you use a DHCP server which unit is it (I assume the HG520c)?

Finally, how is your WiFi set up?

I ask these questions because devices connected through the switch should still be able to get their IP from the DHCP server - assuming the switch is connected to one of the three available ethernet ports on HG520c.

Hello Ivan,

Thank you for answer topic.

I not connect the HG520c Router and the Gigabit Desktop Switch.

The DNS-323, computer and media player, have a dynamic IP. I think the HG520c Router have DHCP server. The Gigabit Desktop Switch has not a DHCP server.

I get the HG520c Router, from my 3bb, ISP in Thailand. 3bb have setup the HG520c Router.
Now I stay in Cambodia and have internet through Wi-Fi in my apartment building. I use now only the 4 Ethernet ports from HG520c Router to connect DNS-323, computer and media player. Bud When I use HG520c Router, Wireless internet not works then.
Computer IP: 192.168.1.2
DNS-323 IP: 192.168.1.3
media player IP: 192.168.1.4

When I use only the Gigabit Desktop Switch to connect the DNS-323, Computer and media player. Computer and media player has access and wireless internet works.
Computer IP: 169.254.58.11
media player IP:169.254.85.124
DNS-323 cannot access even with the Easy Search Utility from D-Link.
It lookalike  DNS-323, only work with IP: 192.168.x.x and not with IP: 169.254.x.x

Wi-Fi set up, in my apartment building. Bud I not able to change anything on it.

From what I can see the problem is the building WiFi and you don't have a wireless bridge that would allow you to connect a network to the internet via WiFi.

With Computer IP: 169.254.58.11and media player IP:169.254.85.124 they are on a different subnet to the DNS-323 IP: 192.168.1.3.  You could try setting the DNS-323 IP to something like 192.254.58.12 and see if that will work - it will depend on how the WiFi is set up and how many connections it will allow you.

In the end you may need to get something like D-Link DAP-1522 and use it in wireless bridge mode.  To give you some idea of wireless bridging you could go to http://www.home-network-help.com/wireless-bridge.html where the picture shows something very close to your situation.

IP address starting with 169.254 indicate no DHCP server on the network. They are automatically assign by Window when the computer cannot reach the DHCP server.

I would rephrase that - an ip address starting with 169.254 suggests no DHCP server - there is no reason preventing you from using a 169.254 address range with a DHCP server, I would suggest against it, but I have seen it done.

Okay I have no DHCP server. Bud way my Popcorn Hour A-200 Network Media Tank (Media player) has no problem. When I use only the Gigabit switch.

Computer and media player has access and wireless internet works.

DNS-323 cannot access even with the Easy Search Utility from D-Link. It lookalike DNS-323, only work with IP: 192.168.x.x and not with IP: 169.254.x.x

Computer IP: 169.254.58.11
Media player IP: 169.254.85.124

I have tray to gif the DNS-323 a static from the Media player IP: 169.254.85.124. Bud the DNS-323 not accepts it.

If you have no DHCP server, you will need to set static ip addresses on all the devices connected to the LAN - I would suggest you use a 192.168 network range and not the 169.254 APIPA range - incidentally - you can use the DNS-323 itself as a DHCP server.

You can use the gigabit switch to interconnect the devices and the DNS-323 as the DHCP server and still have internet access through the laptop's WiFi card.

Ideally though - what you should do is to "regularise" your network infrastructure - use some sort o***ateway device to link your network to the building wireless, and that way all your network devices can have internet access via the WiFi.

Carljako, the next thing you need to do is find out what the building WiFi is doing, either by asking the person that maintains it (preferred) or using a program like netscan to try and find what IP it supplies.  You might have to use something like xirrus WiFi inspector to find the building wireless IP first.

Once you know that you can start to build your network using the DNS-323 as a DHCP server if necessary.  Follow the advice of fordem regarding the IP range and you should have no problems.

Thank for answer my topic
.
I have only access to the DNS-323 if I use the HG520c Router. Then I see with the Easy Search Utility
DNS-323     Gateway       DNS
192.168.1.3 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.1
and
192.168.1.2 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.1

If I disable DHCP and configuration a static IP, no access more, even with the Easy Search Utility or with a web browser.

But, the button, on the DNS-323, no flash than I think DNS-32 have an IP, but how can I found the IP.

Only, a reset, with the paperclip, give me access back to the DND-323. I have tray it, white many static IP’s, and every time a reset with the paperclip give me access back.

Now I think a wireless bridge can help me maybe. I have look the TL-WR1043ND or TL-MR3020 both can work in bridge mode.
The MR3020 have even the possibility for a 3G modem. But I not sure I can connect an Ethernet switch to the MR3020 Ethernet port.

If you use a wireless bridge you're going to end up making your NAS accessible by the entire building - I don't think that is what you want.
