OBI200 not registering
« on: June 27, 2020, 05:05:18 PM »

Hi

I have an OBi200 that is not registering with voip.ms network. I did try and place this device in DMZ and it just doesn't connect. I had it working before on another router without any special configuration on the router. I have also tried to disable ALG(SIP) without success. I have the latest firmware from this year.

Anyone has any idea?

Thank you,

dg.

Model Name: DIR-885L
Hardware Version: A2
Firmware Version: 1.21 B03

I believe it is something related to the TLS protocol that is not UDP and not TCP. How do I solve this one?

Apparently using Virtual Server and protocol 56 doesn't solve this problem.

If DMZ is not working, most likely not a port issue.

Try disabling SIP --> https://support.dlink.com/FAQView.aspx?f=K4pgUsOvtaM2%2bnkeoaMfLw%3d%3d

That was the first thing I tried. I also did  place the device in DMZ. I am just wondering if it is not related to the last patch. I will have to do more testing over the weekend. I did  talk to someone from the Chat support and he said that he will escalate, and I will get an email within 24-48 hours. There aren't many things I can try.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Had it worked before the last FW update?

Yes, with SIP(ALG) turned off and the at some point in the DMZ. I will try this weekend with the first version of the firmware and then test one version at a time this way I would know when it stops working.

By the way, the latest the 02/04/20 version was not detected automatically, so I did have to download it manually and install it this way.

I did some testing and here are the results:
1. firmware version 1.12b05 - OBI works without any special settings
2. firmware version 1.15 from 2017-10-05 - OBI works without any special settings
3. firmware version 1.20 - 2017-10-05 - OBI works without any other settings.
All the above work just by clicking the Upgrade button

Firmware 1.21 - 2020-02-04 requires manual upload. I have made two separate downloads from separate computers, compared them, just making sure they are identical.

OBI does not work. I set it in DMZ, I disable SIP(ALG), used port forwarding and lastly set it as a virtual server. All combination separate or in combination of two. Most definitely there is an issue with the February patch.

Thank you for the detailed testing and info. I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. Preference this forum thread.

We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Initially I had a chat with someone from the Canadian support. We exchanged couple of emails and I guess he didn't have a solution. Considering the August will be the last month of support, I do not expect much. I pulled another router that I kept as a spare and made the dir-885L as an extender. Changed the switch button to appropriate position connected the cable and it just worked. It would be nice if I could exclude the WPA from WPA/WPA2.

Besides the topic, if someone knows of another firmware that can use NAT hardware acceleration, it would be appreciated. Software acceleration doesn't work properly as it overwhelms the CPU at high speeds.

Thank you,

dg.
