My DCS-5020L connects to the Internet via Wifi and works. However, within a few hours it disconnects and the only way to get it back online is to power cycle it by pulling the power cord. Then it works again for a few hours before disconnecting.
This very much defeats the purpose of having the camera. Does anyone have any suggestions for making it work? It is in the same room as the wireless router and has a very strong signal.
Help!

Same here....That the reason I upgrade to 1.12V firmware but I have no hope! even on static Ip, camera refuse to respond to any service after a disconnection! :o

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?
Was a factory reset performed after updating FW and set up from scratch?
- 2.4Ghz Routers only: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
- Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
- Try setting a manual Channel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_channels) to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. 13 for EU regions.
- What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Encryption_Standard), so you might want to try TPIK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporal_Key_Integrity_Protocol) only or Auto TPIK and AES.
- Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
- Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use InSSIDer (http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5936-inssider.html) to find out. How many? Use v3, its free.

I use routerboard mAP that there are connected 3 other d-link cameras. DCS-932L, DCS-942L, DCS- 930L always restore connection.
it is a mess situation as 5020L has been installed on the 3m height on ceiling ::) >:( and I had to unplug it every time.

any news for this issue?

if the camera is just far enough from the wireless router, but just close enough to neighbors routers, than you may have to use a repeater or just use a wire. WiFi is very convenient, but in scenerios where you want/need the camera to "stay up" (ie not go offline..), than you should use a wire (Ethernet Cat6e, if it is a longish distance). :o

i also have the same issue here.
have 2x 5020L
the one with firmware v1.12 will disconnect and not able to reconnect again if router restarts
the other one with v1.10 is always connected and will attempt to reconnect if router restarrs

Same here I have x4 DCS-5020L with an DNR and they drop sometimes if for a sort tome they come back on line otherwise I have to re-power them. We have Xfinity and their wifi would drop a lot, xfinity tech improved the wifi dropping reduced also with the cameras witch are set up wireless but regardless how far or close they are to the router they still drop at random. Xfinity tech advice was to upgrade firmware router or get new better router. I haven't done either router wise if I do i'll be sure to share results.

IF the ISPs wireless router doesn't provide good wifi signal then turn that Wifi OFF and getting and installing a new wireless AP or router would be recommended. Also environment conditions will effect any wireless signal.
What Mfr and model is the ISP modem?
