Title: How can I...
Post by: DetreS on September 24, 2015, 09:26:45 AM
Hi all,

First of all, sorry it his isn't the correct subforum, and for my bad english :P

I'm a new user of Sharecenter 340L, and very happy with it, but the mobile app is horrible.
It crashes everytime I close it, and can't open again, I have to go google play and run it from there..
And the app don't support all video formats...

Then, I want to know, how can I:

- Streaming of all media formats/videos to my mobile phone Android or tablet.
- Auto Backup of selected folders from mobile/tablet (exemple, all photos not only camera ones, downloads...) to the NAS, only by wifi.
- Send a wake on lan and shutdown the nas if necessary from mobile.

Any idea how we can do that? another app better of the official one? Or maybe using an addon?

Thanks all ;)

Official - all written in detail in the documentation.
1. Media - built-in UPnP AV Server.
2. Sync files, what software to use as described in the documentation.
3. No Wake on lan. There is only start/stop NAS on a schedule.

Empowerment - installing the official Addons and/or my Addons.

Not sure this will 100% help/answer your questions
1 - install Kodi(formerly XBMC) onto another device to use as Media Database and get Kodi to stream from your 340L to another networked player.
Example Plex Addon not suitable for majority of my movies - so I put Kodi on my tablet and my tablet connects to my Sony Home Cinema via wifi.

2 - backup - read this thread...I'm here to help if I can.

3 - WOL - vtverdohleb already answered but my 320L never gets powered off unless rebooting - it goes into sleep mode and awakens by accessing the 320L by all methods (mydlink lite/PC etc)
If you have other issues...and I understand there might be a language problem (don't worry) then try to explain (even if you need to use your own language - I will try my best to understand.

HTH

Thanks both for your fast reply!
Actually i'm using schedule for start/stop the nas, but a reset button on an mobile app would be good, if the nas freezes or give an error...

@philphil61, xbmc/kodi will work streaming by inet? or only lan?
About the backup, from the PC is not a problem, I configured windows to make X days a bakup in the nas, but I want backup from my mobile phone, maybe I need to search an app for Android to do backups by lan... The official App only does (when work...) backup of Camera Photos...

Thanks again ;D

By using Kodi only AFAIK it's LAN only.  But if you also install Emby http://emby.media/ (http://emby.media/) then access to "shared media" can be given to anyone with the correct access details.  I've seen this working but haven't sorted it myself.

I've had a 320L for nearly one year and it's never froze - the only time I've needed to reboot is when installing addons or because of network issues (unrelated to NAS issues).  If it's freezing it's possible you are trying to do too much - it's a basic NAS server with low specs.

Re - mobile backups - I've no real idea as I don't use my mobile that much so have little need for backup.  That said... if your can sync your Android folders with a pc or online type storage then I think it's possible to just backup from those locations.  My Android Moto G used to backup my photos to Mega and Google Drive (I think) automatically until I stopped the process. So it should be possible and maybe others who read this thread might be able to help you more.
