Resolving intRAnet addresses
« on: February 09, 2010, 08:35:02 AM »

I have my DIR-628 connecting to the local, wired intranet.  All clients and servers on the wired intranet have addresses like "[xxx].mycompany.local".  If I type "myserver" into the URI bar on firefox (using a wired client), it goes directly to my intranet web/database server.

I am looking to replicate this for wireless clients, and have been unable to do so.  However, if I type "myserver.mycompany.local" on a wireless computer, I will get to where I want, but typing "myserver" into the URI bar just does a google search for "myserver".

Is it possible to configure the router to try attaching ".mycompany.local" before returning 404?

Keep in mind that the server is NOT on the router, but that the router and the server on on a switch.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
