How about an update? Also, adding a backup feature using the usb port with an external hard drive. See http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=12129.0

Ok, just tried mounting from my virtual fedora box to see if I could get a more verbose error to troubleshoot, here's the results:
[root@fedorabox]# mount.nfs 192.168.4.15:/mnt/HD_a2/Volume_1
/home/[username]/nasbox/ -w
/usr/sbin/start-statd: line 8: /sbin/rpc.statd: Permission denied
/usr/sbin/start-statd: line 8: /sbin/rpc.statd: Success
mount.nfs: rpc.statd is not running but is required for remote locking.
mount.nfs: Either use '-o nolock' to keep locks local, or start statd.
mount.nfs: an incorrect mount option was specified
**Below is the attempt with the option to keep locks local**
[root@fedorabox]# mount.nfs 192.168.4.15:/mnt/HD_a2/Volume_1
/home/[username]/nasbox/ -w -o nolock
mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting
192.168.4.15:/mnt/HD_a2/Volume_1
As you can see from the command prompt, I'm performing these actions with root super user.
Your mount command is incorrect. You should not be mounting /mnt/HD_a2/Volume_1, it should simply be /mnt/HD_a2/. You are communicating over NFS, there is no reason to include the SMB name.
Also if you are using ESX make sure no rootsquash is enabled.
Can you post a screenshot of your NFS settings page.
Hello,
TO : D-Link Multimedia
on the ftp, fw1.08 appears to be ok for hardware A,B & C
can i upgrade from FW 1.07 to 1.08 (planing to use language pack) with a B HardWare ?
i got two of them
Dear moderators, I have a new issue we can add to the list (the problem should be relatively easy to reproduce). I installed NFS add (see posts above) and after toiling with ESX to connect, I decided to remove and re-install the addon. After doing that, the addon fails to start. Here's what I did to produce (as well as try to troubleshoot) the issue:
1) Removed the NFS addon (I don't remember if I stopped the addon first or if I just hit the delete button)
2) Reinstalled NFS addon and attempted to start it (failed to start)
3) Rebooted the encloser and tried to start again (failed to start)
4) Removing the addon, rebooted the enclosure, re-installed and rebooted again, then tried to restart the addon (failed to start).
5) Removed the addon, rebooted the enclosure, re-installed and attempted to start (still failed).
6) Upgraded to firmware version 1.09 and repeated these steps and it didn't seem to make a difference
Another user seems to have the issue here:

Did you reset to factory defaults with 1.08 and manually reconfigure? If not, try that first.
Thanks for the reply gunrunnerjohn. I have reset to factory defaults, but I still have the same problem. Even if I make no changes to the LAN settings, but save the settings, I can connect to the DNS-323 again. Any other suggestions?
By that you mean what? What is RAID 1 then if it is not data mirroring? Possibly you could provide references when you wish to help people. The ONLY thing that RAID-1 protects you from is hardware failure of a disk drive! Think about it.
3. If you have a controller failure, both copies are gone unless you have identical hardware to connect your drives.

I need to upgrade DNS-323 from firmware 1.02 to 1.08...
I got the firmware but cannot install it
There is no access, no button, no info
in D-LINK/TOOLS for firmware upgrade !!
"... ... ... /web/tools/admin.asp?id=860559"
Where did D-LINK hide this function on version 1.02 ?
Thanks a million !
The Daylight Savings Time function is a pretty junky feature. Isn't there a way to automate the time change instead of manually having to set the dates every year?
+1I second this motion ie most do it like in the 3 month and 1 sunday of the year for example....
Can anyone tell me where i can find firmware 1.0.9 ?
I use firmware 1.08 that works fine(some things could be better) but only the NFS add-on is not stable.
Unable to create file names beginning with a period. This affects both FTP and Windows access to the box. Prevents me from copying my Linux home directories (.profile etc.).
I would like to know if after the upgrade of firmware and factory reset would cause to lose all the data (files and folders) already in the drives?
No
This has nothing to do with the DNS-323, it is a Windows "feature", at least in earlier versions. I have managed to create and copy directories and files starting with a period on the DNS-323 and copy them too so not sure why you're unable to.
Yep, .<foldername> means something to Windows, so it may confuse things.
gunrunnerjohn: Are you following me? :DRight on your heels! (http://mysite.verizon.net/johnwill3/Message_Graphics/Medium/big_big_grin.gif)
1) Don't run scandisk. It causes access problems also in 1.08, and you have to restore to factory and set up the users and access manually all over again.
Installed FW 1.08
Installed BT addon 1.0
Normally i can access the web interface ONE time.
Next time i try to access it, I can login and go to the BT page but no torrents are shown.
But I have seen that IE allways seems to try to load a button image (btn-browse.png) when this happens, as can be seen in the bottom bar on the attached picture (status bar of IE).
Can this "button image" bee corrupt or what can be the problem? How can i fix it.
The problem happens both on Win 7 x64 and Win XP 32-bit.
(http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/1470/dns323bittorrentbtnbrow.th.jpg) (http://img96.imageshack.us/i/dns323bittorrentbtnbrow.jpg/)
When the problem appears nothing works in WebUI, I can not log out, go to settings...nothing
After I kill the window I can not log in att all to the DNS-323 via WebUI, so I have to hard restart it.
After I restart the DNS-323 by pressing the hardware button for 3seconds, all my torrents restarts from 0%
Does anyone have any ideas?
My 1Tb disk starts to get full, about 40Gb left, but I guess this should not induce the problem, unless it is some kind of unused cache.

Disable any AV/blocker software? Try another browser or another computer?
1.Tried disabling Avira Antivir - samme issue (it did not halt on the browsebtn.png but it halted and did not show the torrents and i could not get to the log in page after that, as in last post)Solved the problem.
2. Tried on another PC with win XP32 bit in IE (wired LAN) - same issue
3. Tried on win 7x64 with 32 bit IE browser (Wired+Wireless LAN) - same issue
4. Tried on win 7x64 with 64 bit IE browser browser (Wired+Wireless LAN) - same issue
5. Tried on win vista PC with 32 bit IE browser (wireless LAN) - same issue
It have worked on all three systems before, so i am clueless.
Can only think of FW issue, BT addon issue or corrupt files in hidden dirs for NAS BT addon ?

Bogieman ???
ps
There seem to be an issue when writing long posts here in the forum IE on Win 7 x64 system.
Each time you have typed a character it jumps up to start of the edited post. So you can only see what you are wwriting for a fraction of a second (as long as you keep a key pressed).

I have an alternate EXT2/EXT3 driver that runs for me under Windows 7 to read Linux disks.
I think you'll have better luck after the factory reset.
Hi..
I bougt my DNS-323 for a week ago. i have fw1.08 .

do anybody have a solution to this ?
thanks // =D
I have 2 DNS-323 units and for some reason only 1 can been seen under the Network as well as under Device ManagerWhich operating system?? Do you mean 'Devices & Printers' rather than Device Manager (because I cannot think that a DNS-323 is ever going to show up in Device Manager)??

it can show up in Device ManagerI'm intrigued because I hadn't realised that Device Manager could show networked devices. How does one go about getting them to appear??
