Starting with one hard drive, then RAID 1
« on: February 20, 2009, 08:28:29 AM »

I noticed in firmware 1.5 the following addition:
Add option to re-configure the Hard Drive configuration as RAID 1 when installing the 2nd new Hard Disk
Does that mean I can set my DNS-323 with one hard drive initially, then add a second of the same size, and the second will mirror the first in a RAID 1 configuration with no loss of data?
This would be a great solution for me, so I am quite curious.
Thank you.

Yes sir, When you add the second drive it will prompt you to format the new drive and there will be a check box to check if you would like it to sync with your existing drive and create a RAID1 configuration. All your remaining data will stay in tact and be moved to the second drive.

Thanks ECF for the confirmation!  Great option.
