I am not sure i understand how this works. So i don't use PPPoE on the router, but use DHCP - no user name or password, i just let the modem handle the connection?
What about the static IP from my ISP? Do i set that up anywhere on the Modem or Router?
I understand the DMZ - (NAT) but i don't understand how i get the static ip from my ISP.
Hi Dufess,
Most ISProviders nowaways, change your Internet IP Address at whim.
If the Westell Modem, does not have a Router as part of the Modem, you don't need to place the Router into the DMZ Zone.
After the DSL Modem and Router are hooked up, remove power from both. If plugged into a Surge Protector, turn it off and then turn it on after 30 seconds.
From your Wired Computer, you should have Internet and be able to set up your Wireless portion of the D-Link Router.
Let the DSL Westell Modem handle the Internet IP Address.
