DWA-160 and DIR-825
« on: May 26, 2010, 08:02:22 AM »

Just replaced a DIR-655 that failed after a power surge with a DIR-825 (even with a surge protector, but no battery backup, Dlinks seem to be rather susceptible to this kind of failure). The 825 is set up with the 2.4 Ghz router as g and n; the 5 GHz router as n only. When I connect to the 825 with a DWA 160 revB using the Ralink driver, the 5 GHz router is listed as A and N. It really is configured as N only and it is functioning that way since I get 180-270 Mbs to a DAP-1522 when they are a couple of rooms apart and 300 mbs if the 825 and 1522 are in the same room. Anyone else seen the "A" band listed? Is it a Ralink bug?

Note: The DWA-160 is used from a laptop that is one floor down, several walls, and about 70 feet away from the 825. Best I can get is 15% signal strength and ~80 Mbs on the 5 Ghz band and poor stability. Get about 160 using N on the 2.4 Ghz band and solid as a rock (knock wood).
