*Fixes Samsung Galaxy S4 problems.
Let us know how it works for you.

The update reset the router back to the defaults so be sure to do a configuration backup BEFORE using this update. So far the update seems to be working. My S4 has not disconnected for several hours.
Does anyone know what was modified to get it to work?
-
IT's always a default process when updating FW that the configuration gets blown away. Ya, always do a Save Configuration to File.
We know know what was changed. I presume it's all coding.
Glad it's working for you know. Enjoy. ;)

Works for me.

Yah my GSY S4 is working again.. However my wife's iphone en ipad are having issues with this new fw..
Anybody else having the same?? :-[ :-[

- Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
- What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Encryption_Standard), so you might want to try TPIK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporal_Key_Integrity_Protocol) only or Auto TPIK and AES.
- What wireless devices do you have connected?

I've used both "width sets", security setting as WPA personal.. I've tried to set AES only, but same negative results...This problem occurs only with my apple devices(iphone+ipad-iOS) since latest fw..

What iOS versions are currently loaded?
Does 20Mhz, WPA2/TPIK Only work?
If you temporarily turn OFF Security, do they connect as a test?

On this link: http://www.dlink.com/no/nb/support/product/dir-655-wireless-n-gigabit-router?revision=deu_reva
It seems the 1.36 are newer, but that doessent make sence. Im running 1.31EU at the monent. Is there any reasons to upgrade, and are 1.37 good and stable?
-
v1.37 is the latest and it fixes some SamSung Galaxy cell phone WiFi issues that were seen. If you are not exhibiting any of this or have a Samsung Galaxy phone using WiFi on this router, it's recommended that if your router is working well for you. Keep whats loaded.

Glad its working for you and thank you for sharing. Enjoy.

Interestingly, my settings did not get reset upgrading from 1.36. :)
No noticeable differences in settings or performance, etc. over 1.36, though I didn't have any problems nor do I have that Samsung device. Just like to keep up to date.

Has the UPnP vulnerability been fixed on the "A" version of this router? If so, as of what firmware was it fixed in?

Hi,
can the fix be implemented for A4 WW as well? I am having the same exact issue with my 1.35WW DIR-655 router.
Thank you.
-
Just load the v1.37 EU version. Please use the FW update process listed in the FAQ Library.

I also seem to see some poor and intermittent connections on the IPAD and Iphone after updating my A4's firmware to this release. I actually went back to 1.36 thinking that when they adjusted for Samsung that maybe they had caused an issue, but I seem to see this behavior with 1.36 too. I updated from 1.33 because I was seeing some wireless restarts, figured it was worth a shot.
Is there a list of recommended settings for the DIR-655 that are stable, proven, least trouble-free, rather than just "for testing"? I'be been using this router for 3+ years now and I don't like to "guess" when I tinker.

I have galaxy S2 and when I connect it to the wifi, after about 30 seconds the router drops the connection and all devices lose it too. No problems when connecting the laptop only.
Hardware: A4
Firmware: 1.37NA
My wifi settings have always been:
Channel Width: Auto
WPA Mode : Auto
Cipher Type: TKIP and AES

Quick question I'm using Ver 1.11 in a A3 Dir 655, has been working fine for some years, changed the Uverse modem last month and I'm having wireless connection problems with Ipad2, Iphone 4 and Galaxy S3. The connection is on and off all day, started the trouble shooting, and one option is the firmware update, do you suggest moving to ver 1.37?

You can try, but you'll get the same result. New firmware is **, no matter the settings you make in your router. Until new one comes out I don't use wifi on my cell phone.
-
Does the uVerse modem have WiFi enabled on it at the same time as the 655? It's recommended to either disable the WiFi on the modem or ensure what you are using a different channel between the modem and 655 router. Placement of the modem and 655 router should be as far away from each other as possible.
I recommend keeping the current FW version on the 655 until you can identify what is wrong with your set up. Everything was working until you changed the modem out. FW upgrade may not resolve anything.

As a WiFi upgrade suggestion if you wanted to keep the DIR-655 as the main host router, you could turn OFF the Wifi on the 655 and connect this:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=50033.msg226061#msg226061 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=50033.msg226061#msg226061)
Or connect a DAP-1360, 1522, 1525, or 1533
You can try, but you'll get the same result. New firmware is **, no matter the settings you make in your router. Until new one comes out I don't use wifi on my cell phone.

Thanks, but I switched back to version 1.35NA and put the same settings, works fine for now.

I am having some trouble with airplay.
Some times on my Iphone 5 i cannot see the "Airplay logo". And on my Ipad 2 i can not see the "Airplay logo" at all. Can this be firmware related, due upgrading to 1.37?
Is it possible to downgrade to see if this fixes the issue?

Good morning,
I recently updated the FW on our RevA DIR-655.
After the update I hard reset the router using the button on the back panel.
Although our devices can see the network, no internet connection can be made.
I was extremely foolish; I didn't come to the forums to educate myself on updating router firmware. This is my first router, and the first time updating firmware.
I did the update over wifi.
Of course after running into issues after the update I came here to seek knowledge, only to find out that I should not have updated over wifi. And possibly should not have updated at all.
Have I bricked our router? Are there any avenues to repair what I have done?
I would sincerely appreciate any help with my screw up.
Network notes:
No bridges/extenders
No hardwired computers
1 laptop
2 android phones
3 TiVo units
Thank you for your time and assistance.

- What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
I believe the version is A4 (can confirm when home)
- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) versionwas loaded?
version 1.37NA was loaded (to the best of my memory)
- What region are you located?
US>Missouri>Comcast
- Was the router working before any firmware updates? What was the reason for updating FW?
Yes, it was working. Was experiencing multiple dropouts per day. Seemed as if the dropouts were random
Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
Comcast, please forgive my network/router ignorance; I did not have specific ip addresses set up for each device on the network. I believe it was setup for 2.4ghz only, user created ssid & password. I *think* security was wpa(2)?/tkip
- What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
Comcast cable
- What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
User owned docsis 3, Motorola, I believe the model # is 6120
- Is ISP Modem/Service using Dynamic or Static WAN IP addressing?
I feel pretty ignorant not knowing this answer, but I believe the correct answer is dynamic. I have not setup specific IP address for any devices on the network to use.
- What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?
Certainly ignorant on this one. This may not be the answer you are looking for, but speed tests usually vary between 14-25mbps download, appox. 5mbps upload
I would like to sincerely apologize for my lack of preparation of this task. And to thank you for helping me with this issue. It's people like me (not educating myself first) that must be frustrating to help. I most certainly have learned my lesson.
Again, sincere thanks for taking the time with me.
Kind regards,
Jeff

Can you get to the routers web page?
I'd try a factory reset on the router, use IE or FF with any security add-ons disabled and reload the FW file again using a hard wired connected PC, factory reset once again and then set up.
Please follow this for doing any FW updates:
FW Update Process (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0)
Power off the ISP modem for 15 seconds then back ON when you do the last factory reset on the router.
Check the Internet connection on the router under Status/Device Info. The WAN section should be filled in with IP addresses. Test a web page for Internet connection on the wired PC. Then test a wireless device.

Success! Humble thanks to you FuzzyNutz for your help.
During setup, I chose "not secured". Is there a security level/type that you would suggest?
Oh, and I did not enable advanced DNS services during the setup. I recall reading somewhere that could lead to difficulties. Is this correct?
Thank you very much Fuzzy!
Kind regards,
Jeff

Ya been some issues here and there with Adv DNS.
You can try this for DNS:
- Turn off DNS Relay (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=45143.0) under Setup/Networking. Link>Finding Faster DNS Addresses using Name Bench (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=53222.0) and input new DNS addresses under Setup/Internet/Manual.
I recommend using WPA2 and AES only, if not all of your devcies support AES use Mixed TPIK and AES.
-
Thanks again Fuzzy. I suppose I should have left well enough alone. After getting things going I'm getting anywhere from 6mbps down to 26. I'll have more time this weekend to try the namebench DNS utility.
Thank you,
Jeff

Enjoy. ;)
