Well it appears the DD-WRT community must have a unit in hand. Just a matter of time before they release an incredible FW.
Clearly says WIP=work in progress, also it looks lie they plan for the DIR-895 as well ;D

Cannot wait for it. But i am surprise D-link let it in the market without DD-WRT supported firmware, now most of the manufacturers have the support at the time of release. Plus availability is now that good as well. I am keeping an eye here http://www.gadgetar.com/d-link-dir-890lr/ (http://www.gadgetar.com/d-link-dir-890lr/)and missed the last time price were down to $269 :)

It's up to D-Link in part to get GPL released, however it's mostly up to DD-WRT to compile and post the FW for it. I see that D-Link doesn't have GPL ready yet. Not sure why maybe forth coming and maybe D-Link wants to see how things go. Possibly a hold up with Broadcom and this new SC feature as well. Might not be ready to release GPL just yet.
I did find this though:

NOTE:
FYI, use at your own risk and for any official support and information, please refer to DD-WRT for this information. D-Link doesn't handle 3rd party FW support. ;)

Ya, will have to wait for Dlink to release any COMPLETE driver set to the Dev Community. Nevertheless, for some of us wanting a granular FW with customizable router configurations, can't beat DDWRT
-
Hope maybe D-Link will implement something on OEM FW to to maybe have more advanced feature set for us more advanced tech geeks. ::)
