Hello. I have tried through both the iOS apps and through the web interface to update the firmware. In all cases, the update is failing. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What browser are you using? Use IE11 or FF with the cameras UI to update the FW. Be sure to disable any pc security software temporarily while doing the update.

I also have the same issue.   Mydlink lite app says new firmware is available, so I click upgrade, then after few minutes it fails.  I tried it like 5x already and not working.  960L is just 1-meter from router, I though of using LAN cable but there is no Ethernet port.

when the firmware upgrade fails, need to physically remove power for restart and is fine again. current firmware is 1.03

Can you use FF browser to see if the FW will update?

Can you use FF browser to see if the FW will update?

I usually use FF browser if camera is plugged to Router's LAN port.  Else, I use mydlink lite app for firmware upgrade (wireless).
I am reluctant on FF then doing wireless as sometimes the pc might disconnect suddenly.

Any documentation that IP camera without LAN port will copy/download first before doing the firmware update?

I would use IE11.

I believe the cameras are set up to copy the FW file to the camera first before anything else happens. I would just ensure that your wireless signal is good between the camera and the wifi AP. You might turn OFF all other wifi devices temporarily while the camera is going a FW update.

Be sure all PC security software is temporarily disabled as well.

Anyone notice that if you use a static IP address ON the camera instead of Auto or Dynamic DHCP on the camera, that after the camera is fully setup and working locally and remotely with mydlink lite app, that if you use a wireless device and scan for near by wireless SSID names that the cameras default SSID set up name is being broadcast? Does changing back to Dynamic or Auto Obtain IP addressing ON the camera, does the default wireless SSID name disappear from the mobile wifi scan list?

I'm still on original F/Ws and only see the WiFi on the camera when it's disconnected.  The one next to me disconnected 3 times and I tried to find it on WiFi analyzer but was not able to.

I think there is a post or 2 around here about people being connected and still seeing the WiFi broadcasting.

---
I was only able to find this.  But it this is normal behavior when it is disconnected, to broadcast WiFi address to look to be setup.

The app isn't showing it or must not be naming it ( "DCS-960L-xxxx").  But my laptop was showing it full strength, I tried to connect but was unable to.

Ok so I changed the 960L back to Dynamic and I don't see it's default SSID anymore. I presume there is something going on with static vs dynamic. I'll pass this on to D-Link for review.

I'm having troubles betting the 936L to set up correctly. May have to send it back.  >:(

I regret hitting the upgrade link on my IOS app. I got upgrade failed and camera stopped working. Have had camera for almost a year and upgrades have not been fun but I got it done. Not this time. It downloaded fine but failed at install. When all failed, I've always been able to do a factory reset and try again. Not this time. New red and green status lights started flashing and it never allow me to do anything. 3 hours of messing with it and no different then what I started. Wireless router is 10 ft from camera in 5 by 5 signal. How do I recover when it won't reset? HELP!!

Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48135.0)

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool as a troubleshooting step: 192.168.#.10 and .11  DHCP (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=58017.0)

I don't know if there is any recovery for cameras with out a LAN connection. I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Furry, maybe dlink can add some option disable the direct wifi mode after completing setup  :)
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=66260.0

Dlink team have done it before in 5020L where they removed the direct mode
http://d2okd4tdjucp2n.cloudfront.net/DCS-5020L/DCS-5020L_Ax_Release_Notes_for_FW_v1.14.09.pdf
a. Remove the Direct Mode function.  <--- on 5020L  1.12 firmware

I've forwarded this on to D-Link already as I see this issue when I use a static IP address on the camera. Hope maybe next FW update will resolve this. Please be patient.

Don't worry Furry, I am a very patient man. :)   firmware update sometimes takes months or year or more 2 years or even none at all.haha

After 3 months and without changes to 960L #1, I managed to upgrade firmware from 1.03 to 1.04 via firefox v52.

Past 2 months was unable to upgrade for some unknown reason.  As there are some intermittent disconnect, I decided to upgrade firmware.
wow... with 1.04, the wifi disconnect become so frequent.   I guess I need to upgrade and do factory reset.

960L#1 firmware 1.04 that I am talking here. It is on the edge of wifi zone at home
960L#2 firmware 1.03, just 1 meter from router, so no issue. very stable
960L#3 firmware 1.04.  around 15 meter away from router, it was very stable until it hanged few days ago. scheduled reboot not working.  How do I tell "Grandma, can you help me unplug/plug the power on that side of the house?"   hahaha

the scheduled reboot in 960L really need fixing.. if camera hangs, the scheduled reboot dont work anymore.

So far my 960L has been flawless. I've only noticed one hang or disconnect and a one time clicking noise coming from the app when connected to it. I rebooted the camera and hasn't done it again. Mine is in a front living room window which in the mid morning gets sun and can get hot.

I haven't been using any scheduled reboots on mine....

Mines connected to a DIR-890L with Smart Connect enabled upstairs, about 20 feet away.
