« on: May 01, 2015, 04:27:08 PM »

Anyone install this release yet ?    Does anyone recommend installing ?   My setup is working fine with previous 1.06.01 release.

FW is located here:
http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DCS-5020L

I recommend you be LAN wired to the Camera. Disable ALL PC 3rd party security SW and browser add-ons. Use IE or FF. Do one factory reset, load the FW. Factory reset once more then set up from scratch.

I have to update the posts here. . . In short the following is the only noteworthy change in the latest FW: "Fixed HTTPS issue that caused Pan/Tilt and Day/Night control to fail in Portal and apps."

Thanks for the details of the FW release.   As for the install, is this the recommended  method for just this FW release or any of them ?   It seems drastic to have to set up the camera from scratch and why can't Safari be used on a Mac ?

Seen some issues with users updating via wireless that fails and brinks the camera. Rather be safe than sorry when doing updates. Wired connections are recommended. Helps to ensure a good application and installation of the FW.

You can use Safari in Mac. I would have expressed that if I had known you are a Mac user. Yes, Safari or FF for Mac and IE or FF for WIndows.

What do you mean "set up the camera from scratch"?

Setting up from scratch sounded like how I set up the camera for the very first time.  This would include setting up the email settings, motion detection sensitivity and zones, sound level settings, e.t.c.   Not a super big deal but it would be very convenient to reuse my existing settings.

You don't need to perform a factory reset or purge your settings when performing an update. The firmware updates are incremental and will retain existing settings.

Additionally, the web UI provides the option of saving a "Configuration Settings" file which captures all your user settings for easy restoration in the event you need to perform a factory reset. I recommend saving a Configuration Settings file for each of your cameras as a backup in case you need them later.
