Author Topic: DIR-625 as a wireless bridge for Xbox 360 ethernet port and Gigabit questions  (Read 4346 times)

I'm going to be upgrading my existing router (DIR-625), and I'm wondering if I might be able to use it as a wireless bridge for our Xbox - thus losing the wired CAT5 connection for the Xbox.  Is this possible, and if so, what might I need to do to set it up correctly?

Also, probably a general question for experienced networkers, but what types of applications really benefit from a gigabit LAN port, vs a 10/100?  Does it really have much impact on a typical home network running an Xbox (w/ Netflix) and primarily wireless connections otherwise?  We don't do a lot of network read/writes or file sharing and don't have an NAS wired up, so I'm not really sure if gigabit capabilities provide much of a benefit.

Appreciate any advice and input.

Thanks!
