Do I need to hook up via cable?
« on: June 14, 2010, 04:00:13 PM »

Just want to be able to run laptop (wireless) from router. Do I need to follow all steps including hooking up laptop via cable to router for set-up, or is there a shortcut?

Thanks in advance for any input. :-[

Yes, you will need to connect via cable to:

-- Configure the wireless network access, security and passphrase.  This is not securely setup and is open to anyone / everyone.

-- Do any firmware updates.

also i recommend having at least one wired connection to keep the router awake, it tends to lock up when doing just wireless, especially in mixed modes.

I second that!  However, you "can" disconnect the wire but you will need keep it for diagnostics later.
