Just out of curiosity and for fun....

What is your #1 new or improved thing you would like to see in firmware 1.10?

+1.

Otherwise, it is useless as a media server.

Ability to share more than one root folder.
Otherwise, I don't see how you can share data on two independent disks.

check out the other thread you've created about this one. You shouldn't have this problem at the first place.  :o

With 1.10 Beta to be released soon,  maybe this wish list should be for features in 1.11.

I can't really say which one is number 1, but there's 2 major issues.

1) Proper formatting of the drives. I suspect a LOT of the slow speeds of the device are actually because, for whatever reason, the disks don't get properly formatted. When I did an upgrade to 2TB drives from a pair of 1TB, I was only able to transfer at about 13MB/sec across a gigabit network. When I tried dropping the drives into an enclosure and running the pull from a Linux machine, it was only able to grab it at about the same speed. Yet after I was done, I reformatted the drives to test for speed, and under ext4 on the same machine they were able to pull and push at 30MB/sec through USB. That suggests that the slow speeds are because of improper formatting.

2) DLNA that actually works. For some reason, the device will no longer show up on my PS3, and I've never been able to pull it up as a media server on my Win7 machine, instead having to just use it to load the files as standard.

Support for 3TB+ drives. Everything else can be fixed/installed using 3rd party tools.

first post ever! expect there will be many more
my rig is dns-323 + dual 2tb wd caviar green.
this thing is quiet, cool and wicked fun so far!
i'd say my wish list would have to include a torrent client with a friendly webgui for remote management, rss, all the bells and whistles one expects from a modern torrent client. this purchase is my first foray unto the realm of networking, linux and the combination of the two. ive taken a couple swipes at funplug, to no avail.
also, id like to be able to give one user or group both read access to folder x and read/write to folder y. i thought this would be a simple thing to do...but i haven't figured out how as yet. which reminds me, that's what i came here to do...

Add into web interface in DHCP configuration additional radiobox :
if DHCP server is not respond:
(*) use static IP: 192.168.0.32
( ) use auto ip: 169.254.x.x

My UseCase is:
I have WiFi router with 100MB Ethernet ports with enabled DHCP
DNS-323 connected to one of router ports
In case if I need to transfer large files to/from my laptop I disconnect DNS-323 from WiFi router and plug Ethernet cable from DNS-323 directly into my laptop. Laptop Ethernet port configured as: if DHCP server is not found - use ip: 192.168.0.102, default gateway: 192.168.0.32
As result in my laptop I have 2 network one (default) with working WiFi, other for large files transfer.

Add USB drive functionality to the USB port. Since there are hacks that can do this (http://wiki.dns323.info/howto:external_drive), it means "it's only software" to add it.
