Title: DLink DSL-3782 router Port Forwarding issue
Post by: tjwhite98 on November 27, 2018, 03:53:19 AM
Hi Guys,
At home I've got a DSL-3782 router and I would like to forward some ports with the application of being able to play my Xbox one remotely.

Steps to do this
 1. First set up a static IP address via the router's settings
   - Easy to do, log in and select device from the gui and click static IP
   - Test the IP is static, turn on device and off couple times and it stays the same

2. Find ports requiring forwarding
    - On Microsoft's website it tells what ports and protocols need forwarding, as follows:
Port 88 (UDP)
Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
Port 80 (TCP)
Port 500 (UDP)
Port 3544 (UDP)
Port 4500 (UDP)

3. Open these ports by setting rules in the Port forwarding GUI in the routers settings.
     - to test go onto website such as "www.canyouseeme.org" and enter the ports above

Issue

Here the ports are showing up as closed when I test outside of my network.
I am testing with the external IP don't worry.

I also don't believe that my router is using a NAT as I have looked into this.
Unfortunatley I don't have the firmware that my router is running.
My ISP is talktalk and I'm based in the UK.

Any help would be massively appreciated even being pointed in the right way.
Many thanks,
Tim

Did you disable uPnP after configuring PF, and is the xbox up and running while your remotely trying to connect?

Your modem is using NAT since it has a built in router.

Hiya mate,
Thanks for the promt response, I can't check what Firmware I am running atm as I'm away from home but will update later.
Hardware version is A1 with part number: ESL3782BTT07.A1E

uPnP is still active and yes the xbox is up and running after trying to connect.

Ah okay, thanks for the info.
The way I am trying to connect is my friend at home does a "whats my ip" google and then I use this in the xbox App to conenct.
In other tutorials and videos that I have looked through this is the way that people connect.
Would you advise checking some way in the DMZ? (I'm not familliar with how to test this way but will look into it if you reccomend)

If you set up PF configuration then uPnP needs to be disabled.

Disabled uPnP, the ports are still showing up as blocked? Any thing else you can think of?

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this.
Link> Tech Support Contact Information (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?board=635.0)
We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
