Internet Light flashes white or/and yellow intermittently
« on: April 12, 2011, 02:23:25 PM »

Have noticed this in almost a regular pattern. About every 3 seconds the internet light whick is blue most of the time will ocassionally flash white then maybe yellow. Does not appear to interupt internet access yet last only a second (at the longest),so don't know if I would notice.
Am connected to DSL modem and see no change it its indicator lights,(traffic, collision, lan), when it occurs on the DIR-655. Have three PC's and a network (LAN)  printer as well as wireless enabled. BTW is does not matter if wireless is active.
What do the different colors mean ??   Blue = Connected  White =         Yellow =

Thanx  :)

Is your DSL modem a stand alone modem or does it have a built in router?
If it has a built in router, it's recommended to bridge the DSL modem and set up the 655 router for PPPoE.
Having 2 routers on the the same line can cause some connection issues.

Also try switching from Mixed mode to Single mode G or N or mixed G and N.

My DIR-655 is showing the same behavior. The internet light flashes from Blue to White to Orange, however the network connections continue to work. I do have a DSL model configured as a bridge connected to the router.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with DHCP configuration or UPnP? Just a wild guess.

Do you have your devices set up for Static IP addresses on the router?
Is Advanced DNS Service enabled?
Is primary and 2ndary DNS IP addresses being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?
Is the Always ON enabled?
Is DNS Relay enabled?
Is the light flashing effecting your Internet connection when this happens?
