Email server
« on: March 28, 2018, 07:34:02 PM »

Can't get email server to pass test during setup. Have verified setting with many other cameras but all 3 of my 4703e will not pass email test. Has anyone run across this yet?

Thank you,
Allen

Are you using gmail as the sender?

Negative.. using a hosted mail server. I have many models of dlink cameras but the 4703e and 4701e are the only ones that are not functioning. I even rolled back the firmware to 1.00.06 and still same issue. We run a total of about 64 cameras and these are the first ones to give me trouble.

That is strange. I will send this to the business camera group to see if they have seen any issues.

You may want to call tech support at 1-877-354-6555.

Thank you. I just bought 5 of these and with the email function not working. I wish I'd stuck with the 7010L. I really like the frame design of the 4703e and would like to make that our standard camera.

Thank you again,
Allen

Tested with gmail and Yahoo and it worked without issues. Is the "hosted" server on site (local) or remote?

Thank you for checking. Our mail server is on a remote site. Just strange that I can use the same settings on DCS-7010L or DCS-2310L and everything test and works fine. I'll keep playing with it and maybe I will trip on something. If you have any ideas to try. I'm totally open to suggestions.

Are there any logs on the mail server showing the cameras are trying to connect?

Also, if using a domain name for the email server, make sure the DNS server(s) IP addresses are correct on the cameras.

I was just coming back to tell you I figured it out and that "It was all on me". I missed putting in the addresses for the DNS. Sometimes.. it's the simple stuff.

Thank you again for your quick replies and assistance.

Glad you found the issue. We won't judge you too hard since it happens to all of us  ;D
