DAP-1520 Thread
« on: June 02, 2014, 08:07:51 PM »

I still have not seen a dedicated thread for this model.

Just updated my units to 1.02 Firmware, very happy indeed with the fix for no longer prompting for same firmware installed.

I do like the default AP having a unique hostname adding the last four of the MAC onto it. One problem I have run into however is that after setting a custom host name for it, it continues to append the last four. I have internal DNS and when it rewrites to the hostWXYZ (where WXYZ is last four of MAC) i get an error since the DNS has no idea what this entry is. Seems pointless for me to have two dns entries for the same device. (eg. LANAP01 and LANAP01WXYZ)

Have you asked D-Link about this and if this is expected behavior?

Have not heard back from Dlink but it appears to be expected behavior at this time. Just updated to the 1.05 firmware and still doing the same thing. I've now just removed my custom entry from DNS and am using the customWXYZ that it creates.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
