Clock won't keep correct time
« on: August 30, 2009, 09:01:42 PM »

DIR-625 , C1 , firm:3.08 (latest version) My clock and date are constantly wrong. Some times it will work for a week, sometimes it is only a day and I have to correct it. It will be days and hours off, example: tonight it said "Saturday Aug 22 1:32 am" when it was Sunday Aug 30 8:15 pm, and I just reset it Friday night. The correct time and day are only important to me for filtering purpouses, (keeping the kids off the net at certain times) but that is worthless when the clock is wrong all the time.

Which clock?  The DIR-625 internal clock or your PC's clock?

Have you set it up for Automatic Time Configuration or Set the Date and Time Manually??

I have seen the Set the Date and Time Manually "fail" on other DIR routers before.  Mine are usually set to:

Current Router Time :  August 31, 2009 3:59:16 PM

Time Zone :   Eastern Time

AND

Automatic Time Configuration

Enable NTP Server :  Yes

NTP Server Used :        ntp1.dlink.com   <

I've also had trouble from different time sources, so if one doesn't work, try another.  It may have to do with routing or ISP, though I wouldn't expect that, it sure seems strange when a Microsoft time server isn't working.  There is always the NIST, National Institute of Standards and Technology or the Naval Observatory.

I commiserate regarding your time problem.  I run an NTP server on my network and my DIR-625 HW-C running 3.08 will not reliably sync to it.  Checking and unchecking the "Enable NTP" box causes an immediate correct synchronization, but a couple days later, the router adopts some time-of-day that's ridiculously far off (i.e., several months off).  Four other computers on the network (XP, Vista, Linux) have no problem.  Unfortunately, no help from Tech Support.

i had the same problem with my DIR-625, and now with my new DIR-857; no matter what i do with various settings, the thing CANNOT KEEP TIME!!!  it's just silly - DLink is obviously using the same time code across some of their routers, and it does not work. >:(

Can't keep time on both routers? Might be an issue else where up the line.
If you have a ISP modem with a built in router, this could cause double NAT.
