Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DAP? Look at the sticker under the DAP.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DAPs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

IS the DAP connected to a main host router? What is the mfr and model# of the main host router?
Is your PC wire connected to the main host router along with the DAP?

Follow this process and see it will help:
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
  Link> >FW Update Process

use IE11 or FF browser to send the FW file.

Is there a 6.08 or 6.09 version file available? Might try upgrading to next increment available.

Have you solved the problem?

Recently I also bought 2 units of the DAP-1360 (Revision F1), with firmware version 6.07. At first, I also wanted to upgrade the firmware to version 6.11 which is available from D-Link UK website (and also other D-Link Europe website). However my upgrade also failed and I received the "unable to complete upgrading " message.

At the same time, I also tried to upgrade the firmware to version 6.08, which is available from D-Link UK website (and also other D-Link Europe website). However, this upgrade cannot be proceeded because the zipped file for the firmware version 6.08 doesn't contain the image file used that should be used for the firmware upgrade.

I did some try and error upgrading/downgrading the firmware to other versions available from D-Link website from other countries (Americas, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa) and succeeded. Because of this, I conclude that there might be something wrong with the firmware version 6.11 downloaded from  D-Link UK website (and also other D-Link Europe website). Below is the summary of what I successfully did:
1) Successfully tried and error downgrading the firmware from version 6.07 to 6.05 downloaded from Malaysian website.
2) Successfully tried and error upgrading the firmware from version 6.05 to 6.08 downloaded from Australian website.
3) Successfully tried and error upgrading the firmware from version 6.08 to 6.10 downloaded from Argentinian website (and other South American countries' website).

Because of this, I conclude that the file for the firmware version 6.11 might have a problem. I will send an email to D-Link UK to complain about this matter and inform all of you once I get the feedback from them. Meanwhile, you may temporarily upgrade the firmware to version 6.10 (the latest AND working firmware so far) from Argentinian website (and other South American countries' website) while waiting for the feedback from D-Link UK.

PS:
I need a help from the administrators and moderators regarding my following problems:
1) I found this thread through google because I also have this problem.
2) Once I successfully upgraded the firmware to version 6.10 from Argentinian website by try and error, I decided to share my findings here so that at least all of you can also upgrade the firmware to version 6.10 (while I at the same time send an email to D Link UK to complain about the suspected problematic firmware version 6.11).
3) To share my findings with all of you in here, I have to create a forum account. When I want to create my account for this forum however, I got a message saying "Sorry Guest, you are banned from using this forum! Posting Inappropriate Content/ Links. This ban is not set to expire."
4) As far as I remember, this is my first time joining this forum and I never do anything wrong in here. If it is because of technical error, I hope the admin can do something to fix the problem. If I really ever did something wrong in this forum, please give me the evidence.
5) I got  the message "Sorry Guest, you are banned from using this forum! Posting Inappropriate Content/ Links. This ban is not set to expire." while tying to register using my yahoo email. When I changed using my gmail email, the registration became successful. However, I am banned again after changing my email address in my registered profile from gmail to yahoo. I changed it because my yahoo mail is my primary email address.
6) I tried to used my gmail email address again to register for the same time. I registered with the same username, but this time a message appear saying that the username that I have chosen has already taken.
7) In the end, I have to register using different username BUT using the same gmail email address.
8) To administrator in here, please fix this problem. As far as I remember, this is the first time I join this forum and I never do anything wrong. If this is caused by technical error, please fix it. If I have ever done anything wrong in here, please provide evidence.
9) If possible, I would like to use the first username that I've chosen and update my profile with my yahoo email again. Thank you.

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

This Rev model of DAP is not supported in the USA.
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=72844.0

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

FYI, USA revs A B and C are headed towards EOL:
     This product has been discontinued.
Free support for this product will end on 12/31/2018

I presume other regions will be still supporting Rev F where applicable.

I am from Malaysia and my 2 DAP 1360 Revision F were bought in Malaysia. Even though this forum is for D-Link product distributed in North America, I hope you don't mind me sharing my finding with other people who have the same problem in here (since the thread is already here).

Btw, I have sent a message to D-Link UK to complain about the suspected faulty firmware version 6.08 and 6.11 last night and waiting for their reply.

I would maintain contact with the UK site.

Does the Malaysia region have a support site for Rev F?

I have sent an email to D-Link UK 2 nights ago, but so far I receive no reply from them. Maybe they are having a long Christmas and new year holiday right now. If D-Link UK still hasn't replied after few weeks, I will try to send emails to other European countries that also provide the firmware version 6.08 and 6.11 (but faulty) for DAP 1360 Revision F. I hope the customer services from other D-link European countries still entertain me even though the email that I will send to them is in English.

Malaysia also has support site for revision F, but the latest firmware that D-Link Malaysia (and most of the D-Link in neighboring countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Indonesia etc.) upload the firmware only for version 6.05 (even though both DAP 1360 Revision F that I bought in Malaysian comes with firmware version 6.07. Just in case D-Link UK don't reply my email, I can also try to contact D-Link Malaysia (and D-Link from neighboring countries).

They may not respond since your not in there region. They may review it and have a look. Would be some time before and if any thing was done. I recommend you contact your regional D-Link office in Malaysia and talk to some one there. Let them know of the issues your seeing.

If that's the case, I'll contact them again, but this time using the address of my friend who is studying in UK university.

Malaysian D-Link website only provide firmware version 6.05, which is lower than the firmware version that is already in the DAP 1360 that I bought. I'm afraid that they don't want to entertain me because I'm requesting for firmware version that is higher than what they provide, but I can also try. I will contact them straight away.

D-Link provides support per regional users. So UK may not do anything since your not in there region.

If v6.05 works then I presume that version will be ok to use.

Are you experiencing issues other than FW?

I have sent an email to D-Link Malaysia. D-Link UK only allows customers to send message through their web-based form while D-Link Malaysia allows customers to contact them through web-based form and email. When I contact D-Link UK, their web-based form only allows us to type up to 512 characters in the message column. I had to summarise my message to less than 512 characters while trying to contact them.

Regarding your "If v6.05 works then I presume that version will be ok to use. Are you experiencing issues other than FW?" statement, the only issue that I have so far is my DAP 1360 Revision F cannot have different SSID name whenever it is configured as repeater. Whenever it is configured as repeater, there is no section asking what SSID name that we would like to put for the repeater. Because of this, the name of the repeater's SSID automatically follows the name of the repeated router's SSID.

While searching the video on how to configure DAP 1360 as repeater (but different revisions), the video is shows that there is a section asking whether we would like to rename the SSID for the repeater (we can rename the repeater's SSID with different SSID name for the router). However, my DAP 1360 is not like that. Maybe the SSID name for Revision F is not renameable when it is configured as repeater, but I would like to upgrade the firmware to the latest to verify whether this is a firmware issue or revision issue.

PS: I have old Linksys router and repeater - the repeater's SSID name can also be configured to have different SSID name for the router.

I believe that D-Link doesn't allow for configuration of a different SSID name since in repeater mode, for there units, the operation is to repeat the main SSID name and not to change it. So I presume in repeater mode, only the main SSID name will be used.

Ok, understood. Btw, I still would like to go for the firmware version 6.11 if D-Link Europe fix them. Currently all my DAP 1360's firmware has been upgraded to firmware version 6.10, downloaded from D-Link Argentina. They come with firmware version 6.07 when I bought it, but D-Link South East Asia (including Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Philippine etc.) only provide firmware version 6.05.
