Port forwarding or application rule doesn't work
« on: March 09, 2012, 07:00:48 PM »

I have a D-link DIR-855 with Hardware Version: A2 & Firmware Version: 1.22NA.

I can't make any port forward or application rule for any of my computers on the network.

The only method is to put the computer on DMZ and that is a bad solution in this case.

If I check the log in the router I can only see blocked incoming TCP  connection...

In this case I tried to connect via ssh from another internet connection in to my home computer behind the router.

Code: [Select]
[INFO] Sat Mar 10 03:57:05 2012 Blocked incoming TCP connection request from xxx.xxx.xxx.x:11823 to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:22
Any ideas?

Was it a bad choice to use 1.22NA fw?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged.

Some things to try:
Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.

Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.

Cable. No modem.

Cat5 directly to the router.

Have fixed all those settings but still the same problem.

I think it's because my firmware and I can't downgrade/upgrade the fw atm. :(

It's a EU unit so the fw I did use probably messed up the router...

What region are you located?

Ya if you use NA on a EU unit then it's not going to work correctly. Need to get back to EU FW.

Also use CAT6 cables. Cat5 will probably not be the preferred cable to use.

Northern EU.

I have tried to get back to EU FW but it doesn't work.

Tried with factory reset & update the device with 1.23wwb01 fw over cable but it doesn't work.

if you want to roll back to european version got to dlink germany: ftp://ftp.dlink.de/dir/dir-855/driver_software/
Get recovery from Na firmware. Then you can load the eu or ww firmware.

If FW doesn't seem to want to load on this unit I would contact D-Link for an RMA.
Keep us posted.
