Dear All,

I'm using a DIR850L FW 2.00 (Works well) and I am using this as an AP (Access Point - Disabled DHCP and plugged into my main TP Link Router via an ethernet cable on both routers LAN ports).

I have configured my TP-Link Virtual Server, to forward a request through the internet (WAN) via a port; to an IP within my LAN. So far I have a server, FTP server and 3 IP cameras, all of which forward successfully and quickly to the given device when I am outside the LAN.

It is only with the DIR850L (Being used as an access point), I cannot connect to the device (Connection is refused and port checkers say the port is closed, but works successfully with my other devices). Is the Remote Management only supposed to work when using the WAN port or am I doing somthing wrong?

I have DNS Relay Enabled, DHCP Server Disabled (To make it work as an Access Point), UPnP Disabled, Remote Management Enabled, HTTPS Server Disabled and finally Remote Admin Port - set to the same port I am using in the main TP Link router for forwarding to the AP's IP.

On another note - I also cannot sign into the mydlink page from the Admin login page from my LAN.

Please HELP!!! Thanks in advance.  :o

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

When using the router in AP mode, the WAN port is not used, rather the LAN ports on the back of the 850L connects there to the main host router. The WAN (Internet) port is not used thus all other features like remote management is not supported in this mode.
Please follow this for using DIR series routers in AP mode:
Turning a router into an AP.

Thanks FurryNutz

My question is since I can access the Management page from the LAN, is there no setting I can enable / disable to access the Management page from the internet?

Also mydlink does not allow me to manage this device! Has anyone managed to get this to work successfully?

When using the 850L in LAN to LAN AP mode, features that depend on the 850L being used in Router Mode with the Internet (WAN) port being used are the Remote Management and mydlink.com services, and are not supported while in AP mode (LAN to LAN).

If the 850L is the main host router running in Router Mode and not behind another router, then the 850L and mydlink services will work if set up and configured correctly. Again this will not work in AP mode.
