Hi all I just got this little card and love it but I too had this problem and I played around and finally fixed it.
First you need to completely remove the DLINK program so in Vista go into control panel->programs and features look for the DWA-643 program and unistall it, leave the card in while you do this. After this is done go to control panel->device manager->network adapters and uninstall the DWA 643 you will be prompted if you want to remove all drivers check the radio box and say ok or yes sorry forgot what is was. Now after that's all done pull out the DWA 643 and restart your laptop. Now I downloaded the latest drivers from DLINK and unzipped them to a location I knew, you will need to know where they are so put them somewhere easy to find. I used desktop its easy to find. Now once your system back to desktop put the DWA 643 back in wait for windows to say it failed to install the device then go control panel->device manager you will see an unknown network controller listed. That is the DWA 643 right click on it and pick update drivers. You will get a pop up pick browse my computer for drivers now here is where you need to remember where you put the drivers. Click on browse, now navigate to the folder for the DWA 643 and open up the drivers folder then pick your OS only 2 there, xp of vista. Now install the drivers. You card will work and you will be able to get your laptop to sleep. Now be warned do not use the DLINK provided Network manager that is what is preventing our systems from staying in sleep mode. I hope this helps good luck.
