Okay, so I got a replacement for the third time. I hope this one doesn't get burnt again.

This is kinda off topic now:

My model is DCS-942L.
I read in the comments section on this site that it turns off once a day? If yes, at what time and for how long? And when it restarts, it should automatically re-connect to the wifi, right?

Ours is situated outside the room which has no aircon. So that's probably why it gets too hot sometimes. Wish it were more durable.

Where do you have the camera placed is maybe warm?
Usually any open room should work. Unless you have this in a close closet with out any ventilation.

Do you think putting it in a cooler place would help?

The following is from  http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/d-link/dcs-930l
It also applies to the dcs932l.

Quote
There is an emergency web interface, which has to be used to flash OpenWrt.
Uploading via the regular web interface does not work.

    Disconnect Power
Press and hold "Reset", connect Power and hold Reset until the blue LED goes out (about 8 seconds).
    Release reset
    Configure your computer to 192.168.0.x
Fire up a web browser and connect to 192.168.0.20
Upload your new firmware in the emergency web interface
Unquote

If the above is true, then you could use this method to re-install your Dlink dcs932l firmware to the camera.  Be sure to have the correct firmware downloaded, and know where to find it on your computer.  If networking is all "voodoo" to you, have someone on hand
who understands networking and flashing firmware.

However, do try dlink support before doing anything.  If dlink support fails you, then you have nothing to lose by attempting to revive your camera.

Regards,
Bob

Yes!! Worked very well on my dcs-932l (had almost gave up after a firmware upgrade 1.12-03).

Thanks!

I tried to upgrade the firmware of my camera without making it in static ip. My camera is not responding now. I can`t make it static also. Is there any solution for this?

Did you do a factory reset on the camera then set up from scratch. It will get a new IP address from the main host router So you'll need to look at the DHCP client table to see what IP address it got, this go from there.

Got my DCS-5009L bricked after a firmware unintended update (wife press YES on firmware update over D-Link app).
Found this thread and now I'm here to say that the:
    "Disconnect Power
Press and hold "Reset", connect Power and hold Reset until the blue LED goes out (about 8 seconds).
    Release reset
    Configure your computer to 192.168.0.x
Fire up a web browser and connect to 192.168.0.20
Upload your new firmware in the emergency web interface"

Worked for me also!

I was only getting the red LED and no reset button or WPS working. That was the only way to communicate with the camera and make it work.

Thx!

Glad you got it working. You can find this procedure here for future reference: Emergency Recovery Mode

Enjoy.  ;)

I tried above procedure but holding reset for 10 seconds or more the blue led doesn't go out...
Do you think it's fried or maybe the emergency web interface page is still available?

Give the emergency procedure a try. If it fails, possible the unit is bad.
How long have you had the camera for?
You might test the power adapter top for correct voltages and amps seen on it's sticker.

I have the cam since 3/4 years.
The power adapter is ok. I tried also from another cam (same model).
I guess last week I disconnected the cam from ethernet cable; the cam automatically switched to wifi; at the same time a firmware update started and for some reason went bad.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this.
>Tech Support Contact Information
Ask them about an RMA. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

My DCS-932L was working but I decided to reset it (due to changing my network name).  What a mistake to reset.  It would then not get a DHCP address.
Just had a constant red light.  Here's what I did to solve:

-Downloaded latest firmware (though I don't know if upgrading firmware is actually necessary so you might skip steps 3&4 below)
-Set router to 192.168.0.X range and plug in camera & PC to router
-Unplug camera power, stick pin in reset hole & hold, plug power in, wait about 8 sec until blue light goes out, let go of reset button
-Access Emergency firmware update page on camera at 192.168.0.20 and update firmware (took 10 seconds & page then lost connection)
-reboot camera, press WPS button on router, press WPS button on camera, blue light flashes, front camera light turns from red to green
-use a network scanning tool (I used a free iPhone app) to find the IP address. (Mine was 192.168.0.21 so you might just try this)
-access the camera's web pages at the address you found to change WiFi, IP, password, etc.

Don't know why no one else didn't post this summary which is the whole point of this thread.  Good luck.
