Title: XP not recognizing adapter.
Post by: bhkcpa on May 09, 2008, 05:34:01 AM
I installed the card and removed the drivers/software for my integrated wireless card. Upon boot, XP recognizes the 'new' hardware for my integrated card but not for the newly installed D-link card. Hence, the drivers will not load b/c the software is not recognizing the adapter as being installed. I have an ASUS P5K Deluxe WIFI-app motherboard w/ XP SP2 OS. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

It seems as though the drivers are not installed properly. Please access the device manager and right click on the adaptor. Select the update drivers option. Follow the prompts to update the drivers. NB: Do not allow the OS to install or search for the best drivers. Select the last options on all prompts until you get to a page with the adaptor listed and highlighted. You will also the hardware compatible check box on that page.  Click next on that page to install its drivers. If asked, reboot the PC.

I cannot install the drivers at all b/c the OS and/or the D-link install CD software is not recognizing the D-link adapter. The CD just freezes at the point of trying to install the drivers because the D-link install software states,"Adapter not detected. First install adapter then install the drivers."

i'm really disappointed of dlink nic products.

I got the card to work; it was human error on my part. The mobo I was using wouldn't detect two cards on the PCI-e slot. I moved the 556 card to an pci slot and it has been working perfectly for the past 6 months. Its a REALLY good card [paired with 655 router]. I'm very satisfied with the card.
